They are currently just outside of Cerulean Gym] "Didn't Misty travel with Ash Ketchum?" asked Dou. "Yeah, I've heard her telling story's about it, and how dumb Ash was. Apparently he had 6 Pokemon, when Gary had 45! That's what I call a dumb Twit" replied Ryu. "Staryu!" said Emerald. "What is it?" replied Ryu. Emerald and FireStorm put up a Light Screen around the group. Soon enough they saw the danger. "Nido, Nido, Nido KING!" yelled the rampaging beast. Gloves, Dou's Hitmonchan charged at it. He did a flaming uppercut, and followed up with a Thunder, Ice Punch combo. The Nido King got back up, ready for more. That's just what he got. Gloves did a Comet Punch, then followed up with another flaming uppercut. The Nido King was out. Ryu poked it with his foot. It didn't move. "Errrr, lets get going" said Ryu. "Well said, that's one sight I don't care to see," said Dou. Dou flew up onto Ryu's shoulder. "C'mon guys, lets get going" said Ryu to his Pokemon. "Staryu" said Emerald as he followed. After a while of walking they finally reached the outskirts of Cerulean. "Lets stop and take a rest, I'm tired" said Ryu. Dou nodded, and they walked into a gas station. The serviceman greeted them. "Hello, what can I do for you?" he asked. "We just took a long walk, we could use a soda" replied Ryu. "Ok, Mountain Dew fine?" asked the man. "Sure," replied Ryu. The Serviceman tossed him a can of Mountain Dew. Ryu snatched in out of the air, and opened it. A blast of soda flew out of the can, soaking Ryu. Dou broke out in laughter, only to get the rest of the can dumped on him. "Gah, what was that for? I can't fly with sticky feathers!" complained Dou. "Live with it" replied Ryu. "Hey Emerald, give me a blast of water" said Dou. After a few minutes of resting they decided to head out again. On the way out Ryu grabbed an "8 Badges Brochure". "It sais here that Sabrina is a very powerful trainer, we should skip Saffron, and take the underground tunnel to Vermilion. Once we're there we can take Digletts cave to Viridian Forest" said Ryu. "Will we fight Lt. Surge in Vermilion?" asked Dou. "Of course, lets get going" said Ryu. Soon they reached the Underground Tunnel. There was a small village near it, and a guardhouse. There was a large sign, showing the temperature, among other things. A Growlithe squad was training with one of the Officer Jenny's. "It sure is peaceful" said Ryu. It didn't last long, because there was a large boom, and the large sign began to fall on the Growlithe squad. All of them made it out of the way, except for one. He had his foot trapped in a hole. "I'm going to save it" said Dou. He launched himself into the air, and went into a dive at the Growlithe. He hit the ground just in front of the Growlithe, and slid foreword. The Growlithe was blasted out of the way, followed by an injured Dou. The sign slammed against the ground. Officer Jenny ran up and grabbed the Growlithe, and a Nurse Joy grabbed Dou. Joy ran off with Dou, Ryu took off after them. They arrived at the Pokecenter, and Joy rushed Dou into the ER. Ryu stopped as the door closed after Joy went in. He walked backwards, and sat into a chair. The ER light glowed with seemingly unlimited energy. Ryu dozed off, and fell asleep. (About an hour after) Ryu woke up. He leapt into the air. Dou was riding atop a Growlithe, with a bandage on his wing. "What…happened?" asked Ryu. Dou looked at him. "When I slammed into the Growlithe I broke my wing, but they put it in a cast, and Officer Jenny let me have the Growlithe I saved, it gladly came with me" explained Dou. "Ok" replied Ryu. "Now lets get to Vermilion City, and get Thunder Badges!" said Dou. "Errr, ok" replied Ryu. He was astonished that Dou could have a broken bone, and still stay so lively. They made their way into the rock tunnel. Growlithe led the way, leaving a trail of drool. "Growlithe Grow!" chanted Growlithe. He suddenly stopped, and charged at something. He leapt into the air, and smashed into a human. He was blasted into submission. Growlithe walked over to something, and began to lick it. "Use Light Screen" whispered Ryu. Emerald began to glow with light, a large glowing sphere surrounded them. A scarred Dragonite was shivering in a corner. "Du Du Don't lu lu let him tuh tuh take me" said the Dragonite. Ryu jumped back, not seeing the translator. "You can talk?" asked Ryu. "No, I have a translator" replied the Dragonite. "Who was that?" questioned Dou. "My trainer. He is very harsh. Professor Oak created me specially, so I am able to change my size. My trainer wanted me to grow larger, to fight another trainer, but I refused. He got mad at me, then the Growlithe tackled him" explained the Dragonite. "Do you have a name?" asked Ryu. "Professor Oak allowed me to chose, its Tiamat" said Tiamat. "Ok Tiamat. How would you like to join my team? With your size changing ability you won't need to go in a Pokeball, and seeing that you can fly, you will be treated with extra care" offered Ryu. "Ok. I owe it to you for saving me, just don't let that freak get me" said Tiamat. They walked past the trainer, and out of the tunnel. Meanwhile, the trainer woke up. He knew what had happened. "Speak of the devil. Team Rocket could help me. Tiamat, you will be mine, or my name isn't Janticol!" yelled the disgruntled trainer. Back to Ryu and co. "Its…huge!" exclaimed Dou. "Yeah. Lets head to the Pokecenter before we fight Lt. Surge" replied Ryu.
