From: Shard Fields or Megasomething <goola2u@aol.compostheap> Subject: [PW!] All My Foes Date: Wednesday, July 28, 1999 8:14 PM As the contents of his room scattered all over the place, Shard desperately struggled to gain control over the powers he had been cursed with. Sabrina’s handiwork, he knew. Very clever of her. Why dirty her hands when she can just have Shard kill himself? And, several times, it almost happened. The powers often went off at random, but they could sometimes be focussed by emotions such as anger,. Depression, though, would make Shard the target of his own powers. Shard soon learned that what they said was true: you can’t hide from yourself. Sabrina looked on, laughing. "I still don’t understand," said her assistant. "Why give our gift to an enemy?" "Fortunately," smiled Sabrina, "I can tolerate such questions today. The answer is simple. To us, it is a gift, but it can also be a curse." The assistant nodded silently. Suddenly, the detritus storm died down, and Shard groaned, then fell. Sabrina cursed, realizing what had happened. "That damned M-Block! It collided with the psychic powers, and they destroyed each other. There’s no way there’s going to be another situation where I can do this to Shard again!" *** Shard awoke in the Celadon pokemon center, and saw a young doctor, barely older than Shard himself, standing above him, his brown hair disheveled, it seemed, from running. "Good, you’re awake. My name’s Mondo, and we have to get you out of here." Shard was confused. "What?" "You heard me, Shard," said Mondo, "Time to get out of Dodge. The bomb that went off might make us vulnerable to suspicion, even if it WASN’T us, and ATR is taking advantage of this. There’s this particularly nasty duo, names of Calamity and Jane… I’ll explain on the way." Shard staggered to his feet. "Then let’s ride! Smirker, GO! Take us to… Where?" "To Viridian," said Mondo. "Right," said Shard, "to Viridian! Hang on tight, Lando, Smirker’s one hell of a wild ride!" "It’s MONDO, and what do you mean, hang on… YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!" Shard and Smirker laughed in unison. "I thought this was about keeping a low profile," smiled Shard, holding the ankles of the Aerodactyl whose claws were gently holding his shoulders. "This is different!" came the response from Mondo, clinging to the tail for dear life. Shard tried his best to engage in pleasant conversation, but Mondo was, though he was talkative, a bit preocupied. Still, they managed to have a nice conversation on, you know, Rocket stuff. Suddenly, a burst of flame spouted past the duo. "What now?" asked Shard. "It’s Calamity and Jane, they found us!" answered Mondo, as a Charizard pulled up to the Aerodactyl. "Well, what have we here?" asked a young woman. "It appears to be two inept villains. Easy catch," smiled her oafish partner. "Don’t count on it!" snarled Shard "Let’s tell them who they’re dealing with!" said both ATRS in unison. C: Prepare for what’s just! J: Because we must! C: To protect the world from cruel oppression! J: To teach all evildoers their lesson! C: To defend the virtues of truth and love! J: To extend our guard to the stars above! C: Calamity! J: Jane! C: Anti-Team Rocket cleans up the streets! J: Surrender now, or face defeat! Both: You can see, we have you beat! "Allright, there’s nothing like a classic! Well, maybe a variant thereof… Mondo, I told you my motto! Let’s hit it! Time to show ‘em how it’s done!" said Shard. S: Brace for trouble! M: On the double! S: To select a world of devastation! M: To slight all people within our nation! S: To trounce the evils of truth and love! M: To extend our grasp to the stars above! S: Shard! M: Mondo! S: Team Rocket launches in supersonic flight! M: Surrender now, or lose the fight! Both: You’re no match for our might! As the residual starbursts from the motto faded, the Charizard tried to ram the Aerodactyl. Calamity, however, fell over, and the Charizard dived to catch it. "They’ll be back," warned Mondo. "Not soon enough," said Shard, "Smirker knows a few maneuvers. Agility, now!" By the time the ATRs had regained their balance and such, the Aerodactyl hand lond dissapeared from their field of vison.
