She met Rick Valentino when Rick tried to steal her Oddish. He explained why, then asked to join Julia on her trip. Julia agreed, and they set off to Cerulean City, the Paradise of Water Flowers. ===== Vermilion City, PokeTRANS Train #44 - Noon "All board, onward to Cerulean", said the train master as he closed the door. "This is so exciting I've never been on a train", said Julia as she made her way to the battle room. PokeTRANS Train #44, Battle Room - 12:05pm "A little eager aren't we", said Rick as he followed close behind. "Very", said Julia as she opened the door to the battle room. "Sorry miss the battle will in a half an hour", said what seemed to be the referee. "Okay", said Julia as she and Rick sat down next to the window. "So Julia now that I told you about me how about you shed some light on me on your situation", said Rick as he faced Julia. "Well maybe I'll save that for another day", said Julia as she eagerly awaited the battle. "Okay whatever you say", said Rick. PokeTRANS Train #44, Battle Room - 12:35pm "One on one match", said a tall slim nerd. "Okay, go Petals!" yelled Julia as she threw out her Pokeball. "Oddish!" said Petals as it got ready for Julia's command. "I choose Magnamite!" said the nerd as a magnamite appeared. "Magnamite Thundershock now!" said the nerd as a thunderbolt was fired at Petals. "Petals dodge and counterattack with absorb", said Julia as the attack barely missed Petals. "Okay Petals..", Julia was cut off by the train's abrupt stop. "Ah!" Julia and Rick screamed as they fell towards the floor. "What happened?" asked Rick as he made his way to the exit. "I don't know lets go check it out outside", said Julia as she exited the train along with Rick. "Speeaarroooww!" said a Spearow as it prepared to attack a dratini that lay injured by the tracks. "No, Rick stop it!" screamed Julia. "Will do Julia. Take this you Sparrow", yelled Rick as he threw whatever was close to him. "Spearow!" screamed the Spearow before it was sucked into the Pokeball Rick mistakenly threw. "All right I captured a Spearow!" yelled Rick triumphantly. "Now we have to save the dratini", said Julia as she made her way to the dratini. "Please, in order for me to help you need to let me put you in this Pokeball. We can't carry you in this condition", said Julia as the dratini looked at her before it let itself into the Pokeball. "Well looks like you have a new pokemon Julia", said Rick as he started off. "Well I guess I'll name her Snapdragon", said Julia as she got up and ran after Rick. After twenty minutes of walking the duo made it to the Cerulean City Pokemon Center. Cerulean City, Pokemon Center - 12:55pm "Nurse Joy! Please help me!" exclaims Julia, running into the Pokecenter. "What do you need?" asks Nurse Joy. "This Dratini. There was a train accident on Route 5 and this Dratini was hurt in it. We rescued it from a Spearow." explains Julia, handing Nurse Joy her Dratini. "Nurse, could you take care of the Spearow, too? He was hurt too, I think." says Rick, handing Nurse Joy his Spearow. "Sure. But this Dratini is Priority One now." says Nurse Joy, rushing into the back room. Julia wanders into the restaurant while Rick goes outside to train with his Machamp a bit. Cerulean City, field behind Pokemon Center - 12:55pm "Machamp!" Rick calls. Machamp comes out. "Machamp, meditate for 10 minutes then run around this field. I'll join you." says Rick. The two meditate and get ready for their run. Cerulean City, Pokemon Center Restaurant - 12:55pm "Can I get a salad and a few leafs of lettuce for my Oddish?" asks Julia. "Sure! That'll be $5." says the clerk, preparing a salad and putting a few leafs of lettuce on a small plate. "Thank you." Julia says as she pays. She walks back into the waiting room where Nurse Joy is waiting. "Your Dratini will be just fine. As for the Spearow... I don't know. It looks like it was in a fight with another Spearow. It's wing is broken. It may never fly." says Nurse Joy, frowning. "Wow. I'll let Rick know when he comes back in." she says, sitting down to feed Oddish. She lets Oddish out and it bounds around on the table. "Oddish oddish!" is exclaims. Nurse Joy comes back over. "That certainly is a healthy looking Oddish you have! You must be a very gifted trainer." says Nurse Joy. "You really think so?" Julia says, stunned. "Sure! Oddish are mostly unenergetic unless in battle. This one though, is very energetic. It'll grow to be a great Pokemon!" Nurse Joy says, as someone comes into the Pokecenter, holding a Pidgey. "Nurse Joy! You gotta help! Pidgey is hurt bad! I lost to Misty..." he says, beginning to cry. Nurse Joy hurries to attend to the Pidgey. Julia shakes her head. "Here Oddish, eat up." says Julia, pointing to the plate of lettuce. Oddish bounds over and happily munches on the lettuce. Julia eats her salad as Rick and Machamp bound into the Pokecenter and jog to the restaurant. Rick returns, putting a Pokeball at his side and eating an apple. "Hey Julia." says Rick. "Machamp ok?" "Yeah. We went on a run and meditated. What about Dratini?" "Dratini will be fine. Spearow though, may not be fine." "What's wrong?" "Joy says it looks like it was in a fight with another Spearow or something of the sort. It's wing is broken, it may never fly again." says Julia, saddened. "Hey, don't worry. I'll train it back in shape. Look at Machamp. When I traded for it, it was a weak Pokemon. Almost no strength at all! Now look! An energetic, strong Pokemon!" "You traded for it?" "Yeah, I gave up my Weepinbell." "You had a Weepinbell? I wanted one of those. I decided on Oddish." says Julia cuddling with Oddish. "You done Oddish?" "Oddish odd!" "Okay." Julia says, recalling Oddish. She approaches the desk. "Can I have my Dratini now?" asks Julia. "Sure! Be careful. I stitched it up, it's still fresh. I wouldn't use it in battle, not just yet." says Joy, handing Julia a Pokeball. "Thank you Nurse Joy!" says Julia, returning to Rick. "I just talked to some guy about this place called Nugget Bridge. Beat 5 trainers and win a prize." says Rick. "What prize?" "Beats me. He said head north." says Rick, throwing his apple away. "I'd like to do that, how about you?" Julia says. "Not me. I've got enough stuff." says Rick. Cerulean City, Nugget Bridge - 1:30pm "ONE!" says a trainer, jumping from the bushes. "TWO!" says another, coming out of the river. "THREE!" says another, standing up. "FOUR AND FIVE!" say twins, jumping down from a nearby tree. "We are the Nugget Bridge trainers!" all of them say, in unison. "Beat us and win a prize!" "Who will be my first victim?" asks one. "I will. You will be MY victim." says Julia. "My my... so eager. Go, Abra!" says one. "Go, Oddish!" "Abra, Teleport!" "Oddish, Vine Whip!" Abra teleports, but Oddish gets in a HUGE Vine Whip. It wakes Abra up for a second, then faints! "One hit kill! Go Oddish!" says Rick. "Two! Ready for you! Go, Ekans! Bite him!" "It's a HER, and Vine Whip!" Ekans dives under the incoming Vine Whip, then goes behind Oddish. Oddish spins around and whips Ekans away. "Glare, Ekans!" "Oddish, don't look! Stun Spore!" Oddish looks just long enough to get an aim on Ekans and releases Stun Spore. It looks back to see if it worked, and it hasn't. Ekans glares and Oddish screams and jumps behind Julia. "Oddish! Cmon! Vine Whip!" "Ekans, Wrap!" Ekans curls up Oddish, tightening every second. Oddish gets a vine out and begins whipping Ekans until it lets go. When Ekans does, Oddish hits Vine Whip 3 times, fainting Ekans! "Err... three will get you!" "Three! Won't be easy! Go, Fearow!" "Dratini! Do the job!" "Fearow, Fury Attack!" "Dratini, Thunder Wave!" Fearow begins to dive in for an attack when suddenly, it flashes and smokes! Dratini hit the Thunder Wave quickly! "Row row.... Fear!..." "Dratini, again!" "Fearow, GO!" Dratini hits the Thunder Wave again, and Fearow falls from the sky, fainted. Three recalls it. "Four and Five! Double team jive! Go, Ekans and Arbok!" they say. "No fair! 2 on 1?" "Ekans, Bite!" "Arbok, Glare!" "Charrrbok...!" says Arbok, glaring at Dratini. "Dratini, Wrap Arbok!" Dratini wraps up on Arbok, causing it to look at Ekans! Ekans is confused by Glare, and is hurt in it's own confusion! "Ekans, return!" says four, jumping back into the tree. One, two and three suddenly vanish. "Arbok, Bite!" "Dratini, hold it tight!" Dratini squeezes Arbok tight, but Arbok clamps on it. "Arbok, again!" "Keep going, Dratini!" Dratini, having an advantage of attacking first, causes Arbok to faint. Five calls it back then jumps into the tree. "Your prize is a Nugget!" says one of them. A Nugget pops out of the ground, as a Diglett pushes it up and goes back down. Then, a black booted man steps on the Nugget. "Shame. These brats can't fight off a Pidgey. Now, deal with me." the man says. The man is about 50 years old, balding a little. He is muscular in his age. He also wears a Team Rocket uniform! "That is ours, and you know it." says Rick, grabbing Machamp's Pokeball. "You wish, kid. Go, CLOYSTER!" "Go, Machamp!" "Cloyster, Clamp!" "Machamp, counter with Submission!" Cloyster moves in to clamp. As it closes down, Machamp extends his arms, pushing Cloyster's shell open. After it is open all the way, Machamp lets go and Cloyster snaps shut, hurting itself. When Cloyster opens up, Machamp flips over to the back of Cloyster. The Cloyster turns around and Machamp jams all four fists straight into Cloyster's 'face'. Cloyster tries to clamp shut but, Machamp moves to hands into position to hold it open while the other two pound away. Machamp breaks and Cloyster snaps shut. This is the final blow. Cloyster rolls onto it's side. The Rocket calls him back. He picks up the Nugget and makes a run for it. Rick drops his bag and runs full speed for the man. He gains quickly, as Rick is quicker because of his training and the Rocket is of age. Rick tackles him from behind. "I'll take that." says Rick, stomping on the Rocket's hand. Rick snatches the Nugget as Machamp runs up, caring Julia and his bag. Rick takes the bag, has Machamp put Julia down, and calls Machamp back. "That was a bumpy ride on the way over." says Julia. She holds onto Rick for balance. "Heh. He just scoop you up?" "Yeah. All of a sudden I'm 6 feet up in the air and flying. Kinda of a rush." Julia says, letting go of Rick has he hands her the Nugget. They walk back to Cerulean talking about the Bridge. Cerulean City, Pokemon Center, Room 303 - later that night, 10pm "Thanks again for fighting that guy." Julia says, taking the flowers out of her hair. Rick has changed into just a pair of shorts and fallen into bed. Julia is in a pale yellow nightgown with light purple flowers on it. Julia falls into the other bed. "No problem. Turn the light off, I'm tired." says Rick, turning to the side. Julia sighs. "Okay..." she says, turning the light out.
