Now, let's go to your house so > I can meet your family and wait for Mr. Fuji's Pokemon Volunteer House > to open!" Despite the unwelcomed interruption from Jeremy, the cool morning was still rather quiet. Mithril-rama walked down the streets, a bit disoriented but finding the area familiar nonetheless. After a few minutes of taking longer paths thanks to a few wrong turns (though she certain wasn't going to tell Robert just now), the two stood on the front yard of a peach-pink shaded house. A Meowth bounded across the grass to meet its owner, rubbing against her legs. "Snowball!" Rilli rubbed the feline under its chin, and it purred excitedly. "How's life treating ya? Get into any more fights?" Robert gave the Meowth a few good scratches behind the ear as it wound its way between his legs. "Wow, your cat's sure friendly... unlike Kathy!" "A little too friendly, maybe," Rilli laughed as they continued up the driveway. "He gets into tons of battles and comes home all beaten up in the morning. My mom doesn't want to waste so many Potions on him, and you think he'd get a bit smarter and either start winning some battles or just grow some good sense to avoid them, but noooo..." Before Rilli could even fish her house key out of her purse, the front door was flung open as a little boy jumped up and down in the doorway. "Mithy! Mithy!" "Hey squirt." Rilli ruffled the 5-year-old's hair as she stepped through the door. The boy followed her somewhat more bouncily, running circles around her in all hyperness. "This is my brother Tommy," Rilli introduced to Robert. "He always gets excited when there are guests over," she laughed as she slipped off her shoes. "Gee, you don't think he's happy because you're home at all?" Robert raised an eyebrow as Tommy peeked at him behind Rilli's legs. "You never mentioned you had a brother." "So it never came up." The girl grabbed at her brother to bring him back into view. "Say hi to Robert, Tommy." The little boy simply grinned in embarrassment and ran out of view. "Someone's home!" a cheery voice called out. The voice was followed by a small woman with short curly black hair. "Rilli! You didn't call for so long! Came back so soon?" Mithril-rama smiled a bit uncertainly. "We passed by Lavender to get a Pokéflute from Mr. Fuji, so of course I had to stop by back home, Ma. Looks like Tommy hasn't changed much--how about everything else?" "You guessed right," her mother shrugged. "Not much is different--except you're not at home! How has these weeks been? I didn't get to hear anything about what you've been doing!" "Well... uh... I didn't have the chance to call?" "I'm sure," the woman grinned. "You've been taking care of yourself, right? Have you been going to bed at worldly hours?" "Yes, Ma." "Well, good. At least you're not staying up till 2 am on the computer like before. Did you have breakfast yet?" "Yes, Ma." "Are you keeping up with your studies?" "Yes, Ma." "Are you changing your clothes everyday?" "YES, Ma." "Is this your new boyfriend you brought home?" "Ye-- MOM!!" As could be expected, Rilli flushed bright red and turned her eyes on her brother instead, who was chewing on his thumb and studying the unfamiliar guest. She groaned to herself, wondering if every relative was going to make the same embarrassing (yet rather true) observation, and if she could possibly get used to it. "Uh, this--is Robert," she gestured a bit helplessly, "We... met in Vermilion." Recognizing his cue, Robert offered his hand for a handshake. "It's nice to meet you, Mrs... Rama?" "Oh, you can call me Kathy," the woman explained with a smile. "Kathy! That's my Persian's name!" "Oh, You have a cat too? Rilli loves kitties, you know?" Rilli let out the short breath she'd been holding and decided it was safe to resume breathing. Looks like maybe Mom wouldn't think too badly of Robert, at least. She'll worry about the inevitable "Be careful around guys" lecture later. Nendil (^^;;) -- The Aquafraternal Fanart Corner http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Island/2733
