Subject: [PW!] Kiniro Recalled to HQ
Date: Saturday, July 24, 1999 8:29 AM
Since he had been inside HQ when the bomb went off, he was not being
recalled. He kept walking away from the Pokecenter. Behind him the youth
gang was finishing the looting process. He walked down one of Celadon's main
streets. Common criminals had taken full advantage of the confusion caused
by the explosion. Windows on most stored were smashed in, and there was very
little actual merchandise left. They had taken everything not bolted down,
and some of the stuff that was bolted down as well. That's when he got to
the super-pokemart. It was a mess. The metal doors had been smashed in by
something. Kiniro walked over the door, and picked his way through the mess
that was inside. Kiniro had been sent out to survey the collateral damage
and looting by others that had ocurred following the explosion. So that was
exactly what he was doing. He pressed a button to call an elevator.
Amazingly, one came down. He stepped inside, and hit the button for the
roof. The elevator was in between the first and second floor when it came to
a screeching halt. It was stuck, and so, for the moment, was Kiniro. He
opened the hatch on the cieling. Just his luck the only light he could see
was a thin beam coming from the elevator doors on the roof. He took the pair
of cattle-handler's gloves he always kept in his backpack, and put them on.
The cable was old and rusty. Water was dripping down from the cieling making
the powdery nature of the stuff even more slick. Kiniro crouched down, and
got a good jump. At the top of his jump he latched onto the cable with both
hands, and wrapped his legs around it. He then made the slow, few inches at
a time, crawl up the cable. He estimated it had been two hours from when he
had started when he finally got to the doors left. Now the problem was
jumping, in his already exhausted condition, from the cable, to grap onto
the crack in between the doors. He shifted his weight, and coiled his
muscles. He made a flying grab at it, and caught onto it about 3 inches
above the bottom edge of the doors. Then he set to work prying them open.
When he had a large enough crack to fit in sideways, he threw himself
through it, and onto the surface of the roof. His uniform was now covered
completely in rust. He took off the gloves, and headed down the stair well.
On his way down, he grabbed some paper, tape, and a magic marker. While he
was walking down, he wrote "OUT OF ORDER" in big black letters on the two
pieces of paper. He finally reached the ground floor. There, he tore off 2
pieces of tape, and taped one sine to each set of elevator doors. Exhausted,
he walked back out of the building. Joe came up to him, "IS YOUR COMLINK
BUSTED OR SOMETHING?" Kiniro was in no mood to hear a suboordinate yell at
him. "I lost it in the elevator shaft back there. See the rust on my
clothes. I spent the last two hours climbing up a cable 6 stories. Now what
is the problem?" Joe said, "All TR members in celadon are being recalled
because of the retributive attacks that will likely occur in the wake of the
explosion." Kiniro smiled, "Is that all, I was on my way back to clean up
and get a new com-link anyway." Kiniro brushed passed him, and started
walking directly toward HQ. Kiniro walked at a fast pace, and left Joe in
the dust. He walked into hq. Security said hello. Kiniro saluted without
breaking stride, and headed straight for the supply room. He didn't spend a
lot of time there. He grabbed a uniform in his size, and a com-link, then
headed for the showers. He entered the stall, hung up the clean uniform,
shut the curtain, shucked his old one, and turned on the water. In 15
minutes he had finished the hot shower. He towled off and put on the clean
uniform. He attached the com-link inside the collar. He put on his boots
again, and put the rusty uniform in the laundry bin. He then headed for his
room to await further orders. His bunk-mate wasn't there, so Kiniro checked
in, and let security and communications know where he was.
