From: Paula <paula_martin@hotmail.com> Subject: [PW] my quest begins Date: Saturday, July 17, 1999 3:14 PM From the time I woke up this morning, I knew my uncle was expecting me to visit him and ask him to help me become a trainer. As soon as I got to his house, he opened the door with my trainers licence in his hand. He gave me the best kind of poke'dex money could buy and two poke'balls. Knowing some of my friends had started out with four or five poke'mon, I was a little upset. I also knew some people who only had one poke'mon to start out with so I didn't complain. He also told me that before he quite his days as a poke'mon trainer, he succsessfully collected every badge and made friends with every gym leader. They were all expecting me to so up sometime or another and they would all teach me a little something after i won a badge from them. I opened one of my poke'balls and to my suprise, it was a charmander! My uncle told me that he knew that charmander and his evolutions were my favorite poke'mon. I opened up the second one and to a bigger suprised, a scyther emerged! He must have kept it from his old training days. He gave me $500 and told me that more would come from battle successes. He said that more luck would come if I nick-named my poke's some i did. I named my charmander Pyro and my scyther Blade. Before I left, Blade decided to battle Pyro. I feared for Pyro but little did I know, Blade was teaching me a lesson. Before long, little Pyro defeated Blade with an astonishing fire spin attack! Blade was teaching me two things. A basic poke'mon, no matter how big or mean-lookin', will loose to another basic poke'mon that matches its weakness. It also taught me that me that Pyro has alot of battle experience.
