"Ok class, stop your giggling, we must continue our study of evolution! Someone please tell me what this Pokémon evolves into!" Todd's hand shot up before Mrs. Jackson had a chance to finish the question. "Yes, Todd?" "It evolves into a Ninetales, Mrs. Jackson." Todd eagerly said. "Nice going Todd! Right answer!" Mrs. Jackson praised. "Teacher's pet..." Daniel Stephenson mumbled from behind Todd. Daniel had always teased Todd for being so smart, he would make comment at everything Todd would say. This really made Todd mad. He would give anything to be able to smack Dan in the face. But he knew that, if he was to ever become a great scientist, he would have to be patient and control his temper. He also knew he would have to stick up for himself when he had to. Suddenly the bell rung to dismiss class for the day. Todd gathered all his books and headed for the door when he was approached by Dan. "Hey pansy! Why don't you come see me after school in the parking lot of the University, and we'll settle our little score?" "Um, I didn't think we had a score to settle, Dan..." Todd replied. Rage was building up inside of him. He wanted so badly to square off with Dan. "So, your saying you're chicken?" Dan starts flapping his arms and clucking like a chicken. "You would stop that if you knew how full of idiocracy it was." Todd was very flustered. "You sayin' I'm an idiot? Come find me in the parking lot, or I'll tell Becky Smith how much of a chicken you are!" Dan spouted. He knew how much Becky meant to Todd. They started dating a while back, but broke up because of Becky having family trouble. With this statement Todd just busted, "all right! Fine! In the parking lot at 7:00 today!" "All right! See you there hotshot!" Dan finished as he left out of the school. -- Todd went straight into his bedroom after getting home. He gathered Al and Kaz and his potions just in case things got out of hand. "Al...AL...ALAKAMODE!!!" Al shouted, worried about his dinner. "Hey Kaz, I'm kinda busy getting ready for this big match I want you guy's in, so will you make Al some dinner?" Todd asked.. "Al alaka ala alakazam. Alakazam zam al!" Kaz retorted. "I don't wanna know the chances of Al being any worth to me in a Pokémon match! Now please go fix your brother some dinner!" Todd admitted that was pretty funny, but now wasn't the time. After he got all his belongings he headed for the University. -- Todd had finally made it. Dan was there, leaning on a car smoking a cigarette. He had to admit it was a funny place to hold a Pokémon tournament, so he kept watch for anything suspicious. "Looking savvy pretty boy!" Todd remarked as he approached Dan. "Shut up and get your Pokémon out! This is a two on two match. Let's finish this! Oh and by the way, I invited some friends to come and watch." About the time Dan said that, a group of people gathered around the area, including Becky. Todd almost expected this. "Looks like you'll be cut down to size in front of your girlfriend!" "We'll see. I choose you Kaz!" Todd threw out his first Pokéball in front of him. Kaz had a notepad in his hand, and was doing some calculations for another relative reaction evolution theory he was constructing. "Kaz! Get ready!" Kaz put down the notepad, shook a spoon at Todd, and turned to face the Pokémon. "Kaza, ala ka alakazam!" Kaz demanded. "Ok I'll warn you next time..." Todd replied. "Go, Lapras! Hit 'em with Bubblebeam!" Dan sternly ordered. Lapras jumped out and readied for the attack. "Kaz, use Psychic!" Kaz was a split second too late. Lapras launched a beam that sent Kaz staggering back. Kaz turned and launched a barrage on Lapras' mind. Lapras put its head down, burying it with its fins. "Lapras! Retaliate with Water Gun!" Lapras shot Kaz with a stream of water that sent him back into Todd. "Get offa me you goof! Give him a taste of your Psybeam!" Lapras again cupped its head with its fins fainting under the pain. "This is getting nowhere! Go Butterfree! Use Sleep Powder!" Butterfree came out and flew over Kaz, sprinkling powder on him. "Kaz? Kazzz, zzz, zzz, zzz." Kaz snored. It had worked! Kaz was sleeping like a baby. "Butterfree! Psychic now!" With that Butterfree hovered around Kaz unleashing its attack. "Wake up Kaz! Uh oh..." Todd ran over to Kaz. "Fainted. Damn. I guess that only leaves...Al go!" "ALAKAMODE" Al screamed as he got out of his Pokéball. "Ooooooohhh! Not a retarded Alakazam! I'm scared!" Dan said sarcastically. "Butterfree, Sleep Powder again!" Butterfree started to fly over to Al. "Al! Reflect, now!" Al stared at Todd and smiled. "C'mon Al! Do it for Kaz!" Upon hearing this, Al nodded and shot butterfree's attack back onto it, effectively putting it asleep. "Good! Now the only thing we have is confusion...so use it now!" Al put his forks up to his head concentrating. "No! Not yourself Al! Don't use it on yourself! Not now!" Too late, Al confused himself. "Al! confuse butterfree!" Al turned in circles blasting confuse everywhere. Amazingly enough, one of the blasts hit the Butterfree! "Good! Hey Dan! I'll let you use an awakening if you want!" Todd had a plan. "Ok, but it's your loss!" He tossed an awakening at Butterfree, and it awoke. "Use Psychic now, Butterfree!" "Butter...free...butter...free...butter...free." The Butterfree was hurting itself in its confusion! "Butterfree, stop!" It was too late. Dan's cries fell on deaf ears. Butterfree had fainted! "Yes!" Todd shouted in triumph. Dan hung his head low, gathered his Pokémon and started to leave. Everyone was cheering for Todd, especially for Becky. Then the crowd parted, and Todd sat down on a car to revive Kaz and heal Al. Becky came and sat beside Todd. "Nice work!" Becky said. Todd had made up in his mind what he was going to say now, "Thanks. Do you want to go catch a movie after school tomorrow?" "Sure, I'd love to!" Todd breathed a silent sigh of relief. "I'll see you then, right now I have to go." Becky said. "See you later." Todd waved goodbye as Becky left, headed for her home. Todd felt a tap on his shoulder, and turned to see Dr. Eckert of the University. "Quite a display of ingenuity if I do say so myself." "Thank you sir..." Todd had always looked up to Dr. Eckert, ever since he was a little kid. "Why don't you come to my office and we'll talk." "Yes, sir!" Todd said, It looked like his dreams where coming true!
