Tom awoke to the sound of the alarm clock at the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City. Today was the day he was going to head out to Pewter City, but he knew he would have to brave Mt. Moon before he got there. Grabbing his stuff he left the Pokemon Center and headed for the outside of town. As soon as he laid foot in the tall grass outside of town, a Sandshrew leaped at him. Tom was spooked as this was his first wild Pokemon fight. "Gastly, go!" Tom exclaimed. "Gaaaaasssssttttllllyyyyy!!!!" Gastly sprung into action, using his lick attack against Sandshrew. The attack didn't even stall Sandshrew as he flipped a pile of sand into Gastly's eyes. Undaunted, Ghastly used his Night Shade attack, knocking Sandshrew to the ground. "Pokeball, go!!!" Tom yelled. He held his breath as the Pokeball twitched. Then the light went out. "Yes, I caught my first wild Pokemon!" Later, Tom arrived at the entrance to Mt. Moon............
