"Nothing," replied Serayna. "I made it to Vermilion safely, and I'm going to get something to eat in a few minutes. Oh, Chris-could I talk to Mom for a minute?" "Sure." Chris put down the phone; even so, Serayna could hear him yelling "MOM! Serayna's on the phone! Hurry!" Serayna could hear hurried footsteps and then her mom picked up the receiver. "Serayna, baby, how are you?" Serayna's mom smiled broadly when she saw her daughter. "I've missed you! Have you gotten any badges yet?" "Yep!" Serayna held her Boulder and Cascade Badges up in front of the video screen. "I got two of them and I'm about to go take on Lt. Surge for a Thunder Badge." "Just be careful, honey." A timer went off somewhere in the house and Serayna's mother cried "I have to go! Talk to you later, Serayna!" The video screen went blank. Serayna deposited the call fee in the coin slot and hurried off to go have something to eat and take on Lt.
