From: Ncnc123 <ncnc123@aol.com> Subject: [PW!] A Good Ol' Trainer Battle Date: Monday, August 09, 1999 9:42 AM Splash was bored. He was heading towards Celedon City in hopes of beating the local gym leader and getting his first trainers badge. Splash thought back to his first trainer battle against Sabrina that he had lost badly. He had fought her psychic Pokémon with a poison Pokémon, which wasn't the smartest thing to do. Of course, Splash only had a water/poison Pokémon and a fighting Pokémon, both of which were weak against psychic Pokémon. Splash sighed. His Pokémon journey thus far had not been that interesting. He had left his home in Cerulean City, headed to Saffron, caught a Mankey, lost to Sabrina, and then he decided to head to Celedon to see if he had a better chance against the grass trainer at the Celedon Gym. He looked around. There were several trainers hanging out along the road. 'Maybe I should battle one of these trainers and try to strengthen up my Pokémon,' Splash thought. 'I'd have to send out Monkey because Tenta wouldn't be much use out of the water.' Splash walked over to the nearest trainer, and challenged him to a Pokémon match. They agreed that it would be a one on one match. "Go Monkey!" Splash cried. The Mankey formed out of a red light that came out of the Pokéball and glared at its trainer. "Mankey!" Monkey said. "Pokéball, go!" The trainer said. A Mr. Mime popped out. Splash groaned. He had been defeated at the Saffron Gym by a Mr. Mime, and he would probably be defeated once again. "Monkey, karate chop, now!" Splash cried. "Mankey!" Monkey cried as it stopped glaring at its trainer and faced the Mr. Mime in front of it. Monkey bounded up to the Mr. Mime and brought down a hard karate chop right on its left shoulder. Mr. Mime winced in pain, as its trainer called out his first attack. "Mr. Mime, Confusion attack, now!" The trainer called. "Mr. Mime!" The Pokémon said as it performed its confusion attack. Mr. Mime unleashed a wave of Psychic energy straight at Monkey. "Mankey!" Monkey cried as it flew back a few feet. It lay there, shuddering for a few moments. "Ha, I win!" the Trainer exclaimed. "I don't think so," Splash said as Monkey got off its feet and resumed its battle stance. "Monkey, leer attack!" "Mankey!" Monkey cried. Its eyes glowed a yellowish color, as Mr. Mime stared at Monkey. Mr. Mime's defense then fell. "Mr. Mime, barrier now!" the trainer called out. Mr. Mime made a clear layer of energy around himself. "Monkey, scratch it now!" Monkey started clawing at the Mr. Mime. "Mr. Mime, Confusion now!" Mr. Mime sent out another wave of psychic energy at Monkey, making it fly back another few feet. Monkey slowly got back to its feet and waited for its next command. "Monkey, uh… karate chop it again, now!" Monkey brought down another hand down on the Mr. Mime's shoulder, but it didn't even seem to hurt it much. Monkey was panting hard. It seemed to be getting tired, but it kept on fighting. "Mr. Mime, finish it off, confusion now!" Mr. Mime let out another wave of psychic energy and aimed it dead on towards Monkey. Monkey tried to avoid it, but it was no use. Monkey was hit hard by the psychic blast, and flew back almost 15 feet. "Mr. Mime, return!" The trainer called out, as Mr. Mime returned to the Pokéball. Splash ran over to Monkey. It was in bad shape. Splash picked up Monkey and started running to the Pokémon center. The other trainer followed him. A few minutes later, Splash arrived at the Pokémon center and gave Monkey to Nurse Joy. Nurse Joy rushed Monkey into the Pokémon operating room. --------------------------------------------- A few hours later, Nurse Joy came into the waiting room, looking sad. "I'm sorry, I couldn't save your Mankey," Nurse Joy said. "He's dead." Splash and the other trainer walked out of the Pokémon center. Splash was filled with rage. "You killed my Pokémon!" He shouted at the trainer. Splash then got an idea. He grabbed the Pokéball containing Mr. Mime off the trainer's belt and started running away. The trainer started running after Splash. He had to get away. Splash climbed into the nearest tree, high above the trainer's head. "No! I lost him! Crap," The trainer said. He then headed back into Celedon, probably to find Officer Jenny. Splash had to get away from Celedon. He climbed down out of the tree and headed back towards Saffron.
