Mithril-rama tried to nudge her unconscious boyfriend with her foot, but it wasn't enough to wake him up. She looked up at one of the men who was checking the various cages stacked around the room. "Can't you at least get him some water? Dehydration is serious, he could die from it!" "Well, wouldn't that be a pity," sneered the goon. "That'll teach him not to mess with Dario, wouldn't it?" His response came in the form of a fist to the head. "You idiot!" Dario growled as he withdrew his arm. "If th' guy's dead, how're ya supposed ta teach him anyth'ng? Get some sense into that empty melon o' yers, b'fore I kick ya all th' way from here to that crazy Psyduck pond! I ain't got time to waste with such a nutbrain!" "More people are headin' this way, boss!" one of the men at the window reported. "More?" Dario took a glance at the window for himself. "Why, if it ain't Lara Laramie herself! And she's got a few friends with her too! 'Reckon she's figgered out where all the pokémon's been. Well, I'll show her this time!" "Um... about that water..." Rilli piped up from her seat. Dario turned to the girl briefly. "You just keep yer trap shut and stay put, li'l lady, an' your friend here might get his water. Otherwise..." He raised a finger to his throat, but before he could do the customary slashing motion, a Kangaskhan knocked him to the ground. "Ain't you got eyes, you oversized duffel bag??" he yelled at the pokémon, who was heading out the door in preparation for battle. "Hey! Hey! You listenin' to me?" The shouts grew indistinct as the door slammed behind him. Rilli picked at the ropes with her nails in hopes of achieving _something_, but obviously she wasn't getting very far. Horsea whinnied helplessly from her cage and blew a few bubbles, which drifted halfway across the room and popped. Rilli racked her brains to think of some way to get free and past the one goon guarding them, or at least somehow signal for help, but she was too tied up to do anything. A quick flash of light in the room signaled the arrival of Sigfreid. The guard looked up at the uninvited guest, but he was immobilized with psychic energy before he could react. The Kadabra walked up to the man, and swung its single spoon at his head. With a single THWAP, the goon was out like a light. "Remind me to stay away from silverware from now on," commented a wide-eyed Rilli as the Kadabra untied the ropes. "Thank you so much for helping us! Please take Robert somewhere where he can get treated for sunstroke; I'll handle things here." Sigfreid muttered something in agreement and vanished with the unconscious trainer. "Now..." Rilli surveyed her surroundings. Cages containing stolen pokémon were piled all around the large room. She can hear the ruckus outside and figured the fight must have begun. "I've got to do something... first open these cages." She knelt down by Horsea's cage and jiggled the door, but it was locked. All the other cages were the same. "I don't know how to pick locks... but maybe Haunter does!" She reached into her purse for the pokéball, then realized that it wasn't with her. "That's right, those guys took our stuff... so where would they put it?" Rilli's eyes passed around the room, not spotting her purse. However, she did see the guard who was still passed out on the floor. "Maybe he has it..." A search through his pockets found no pokéballs, but it did turn up a key. Rilli nearly slapped her forehead for passing up the obvious, then thought better of it and quickly went to unlock Horsea's cage. "Horsea, you're too small to fight against those guys outside, so get out of the way and try to find our stuff, okay?" The seahorse whinnied and hopped away. Cautiously, Rilli examined all the other locked up pokémon. Some of them were looking weary and weak, but most are watching her actions through the cages. A few were even scratching anxiously at the doors. "If I let you guys out, will you help us fight against Dario and his gang?" A chorus of roars, squeals, and other affirmative cries answered her. "Great! When I let you out, go wait near the door and don't alert anyone that you're free. We'll rush them all at once." More nods and anticipatory gazes met Rilli as she knelt to unlock the first cage. Nendil -- The Aquafraternal Fanart Corner http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Island/2733
