The sun was beginning to drop in the west. Dark clouds were coming over the sea to east. It had been a sweltering hot day, and thunderstorms had been brewing over the water for some time. A chilly wind blew through Slake's peacock blue hair. He crossed his arms and shivered, wondering where Bill was. He glanced around but saw no sign of his Pokemon- collecting friend. The dark clouds from the east began to rumble and build into tall, mushroom-like thunderheads, creeping ever closer to the shore. The Fearow flew up and began circling in the sky. Slake dropped his backpack and sat down. He pulled open the bag and removed his laptop. He touched his hand on a panel on the front that recognized his hand print and turned on the computer. While it booted up, Slake ran his hand over the durable rubber casing. His own design. It did everything he could ever need it to and more. It even had Slake's homemade operating system. Slake touched the Internet icon on the screen. The computers transmitter sent a signal out and soon Slake was surfing to a weather website. After a few frustrating minutes of searching through mindless banner ads, Slake found what he was looking for. "Weather for Cerulean City area. High temperature, 35 degrees Celsius; Low temperature, 20 degree Celsius. Hot and sunny today with thunder showers later tonight," said the pleasant female voice. Slake clicked a link for any up-to-the- minute weather warnings. "There is a severe thunderstorm warning for Cerulean and surrounding areas. Possibility of hail tonight." "Wonderful!" shouted Slake, "And Bill's not here! What are we supposed to do?" Slake shut his laptop and slid it back into his backpack. He searched through a few pockets before finding his Pokédex. He brought Tek, his Porygon out of his ball and sent him to find Bill. Slake opened up his 'dex and searched through entries of Pokemon he had captured so far. Hitmonchan and Porygon. Pretty sad. He never even _caught_ Hitmonchan. It was his families Pokemon who acted as a bodyguard. Slake had to "fix" (hack) his 'dex so it would recognize that he had owned a Hitmonchan. And as for Tek, Slake stole him from Team Rocket for stealing his Hitmonchan, Bruiser. "I need to catch a Pokemon," said Slake out loud, shaking his head. Just then he heard Tek beeping. Slake walked towards the noise, following the side of Bill's home. Slake found Tek beeping at the side of the house, looking towards a second story window. "Bill!" yelled Slake. "Slake!" said Bill, "I'm sorry, I must have dozed off. Common through the back, I'll open the door." Slake brought Tek back into his ball. Slake ran back to where he left his backpack. He lifted it and ran into Bill's house. A fierce gust of wind rustled the trees and sent a chill down Slake's spine, just as he ran into the door. A few minutes later in Bill's living room, Slake sat beside a roaring fire with Tek zipping around the room, checking everything out. Slake was glad for the warmth. It had been a few weeks since Slake had been in civilation. Bill walked into the room carrying a silver platter with two cups of tea and a teapot. "Hey, nice china," commented Slake, noticing the Kabuto on the cups and the Kabutops on the teapot. "Thanks," said Bill, "Got the set during my trip to Cinnibar Island." "I've got a problem Bill," said Slake, "I'm depressed. I need to catch some Pokémon, but I have no extra balls." Bill walked over to a chest in a corner. He ran his fingers over the carved pattern of a Mew. It was intricately carved and showed Mew flying in a psychic bubble. Bill opened the chest to reveal an old quilt with pictures of cute Pokemon on it. He lifted the quilt and dug through some papers to find a handful of Pokéballs. He gave 3 to Slake. "Thanks Bill!" said Slake, "I'll be sure to mention you in my speech after beating the Elite Four." "Hey no prob!" said Bill, "So where do you think you'll head next?" Slake was staring at the fire and singing softly to himself. "I'm just mad about Saffron. Saffron's mad about me. I'm just mad about Saffron..." "Slake!" shouted Bill, "Are you going to Saffron?" "Oh, uh, no, just singing," replied Slake, "Well, if it's alright with you, I'd like to lodge here a few nights and try to catch a new Pokémon or two before I try for badges." "Sure!" agreed Bill, "What a grand plan! God knows I get lonely enough here! I'll be glad for the company." Slake thanked Bill, who went off out of the living room to prepare Score's bed. Slake walked over to a window. The sun had set and dark black storm clouds had taken over the sky. A loud crack of thunder opened up the clouds. Rain began to pour down. Slake opened the window and let the cool breeze in. Slake watched aimlessly, wondering which Pokemon he'd catch first. -==-==-==-==-==-==-==-TBC-==-==-==-==-==-==-==- -- ~Thatguyty Webmaster of "Tracking Mew" http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Arcade/4011 Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Share what you know.
