The few people who live on the outskirts are settling in, tired from the day's work. The children sit around the fire, listening to the stories the older people tell. Around one particular fire a large group of children are listening to an ancient story, from the most mysterious person living near the outskirts. The children's eyes are wide as they listen, not uttering a word. They are at total attention. The story teller is known only as Elf, a very mysterious person that not much is known about. He is an outsider. No friends. No parents. Nothing. His parents were killed by theives when he was only a baby. He was kidnapped, but later escaped, finding his way to the outskirts. Noone knows where he is originally from. The story was ending, so he ended it appropriately. "And that is the story of the Moon Stone." He said, yawning. He was tired. "Will you tell us another one tommorow, Elf?" A young child asked. "No." He replied blunty. "Tommorow I must leave." He added. He waved to the children, walked across the village and into his small hut. He loved telling stories to the children, but as much as he did he now needed to leave. Tommorow he would leave early in the morning, leaving the only home he had ever knew behind. He was in search of his roots. Often he had thought and wondered the same question over and over. "Who am I." But try as he might he could never find an answer that he was fully at peace with. As he settled under his bed sheets that night, he was thinking again. This is the last time I will ever sleep in this bed again. He was reluctant to leave, but he knew he had to. Morning would bring many new adventures, many more challenges, and many more answers. As he fell asleep, he reached over to the bed-side table and grabbed onto the only piece of his past he still had and slipped it around his neck. The golden necklace with the Moon pendant he had found on his quest to the outskirts. It had brought him much luck. With that, he fell asleep and began to dream many confusing dreams. ======================================================================== ========== Continuing Next Week with Chapter 2 - Dreams Author: Misoguchi - Founder of the 'Outsiders' Why is everyone so happy?!
