Sitting on an old lawn chair in front of the over crowded Celadon
Hostpital, Derrick watched the dark, velvet sky move over the patients lying on
bruised cotts while the doctors and students rushed from person to person.
Those who weren't hurt searched through the rubble of apartment buildings and
houses for the treasured belongings they had no time to retreave.
A girl cryed over her lost doll and security blanket. Derrick watched
her and thought, "At least YOU didn't lose your friends, your family, and your
..." He touched the track-like stitches which cursed his face.
The girl saw an Oddish doll being hugged by an unattended, little
baby. She walked over and snatched the animal, causing the baby to cry.
Ignoring the baby, she clutched the stuffed creature like it was her own.
Derrick walked inside.

Sewing Loose Stitches

"Your stitches are loose again," Joy said as she searched for the
needle. "You need to stop touching your face until it heals fully." Derrick
remained silent as she tugged on his loose skin and stuck the needle in and
out.
Suddenly, another nurse popped through the door. "Joy! This man is
having heart failure, we need you now!"
"I'll be back." Joy placed the needle on the table next to Derrick.
"Don't move!"
When Joy left, Derrick reached for the needle on the table and tossed
it in the trash. The only other object on the table was his pills. Derrick
reached for them and read the label. 'Don't take more than one in a six hour
period.' He emptied out the bottle into his hands. He held the pills in his
hands and just stared at them.
"No don't!" Nurse Joy was in the doorway again. She jumped to Derrick
and pulled on his hands. Derrick struggled for the pills.
"Lay off me!"
The pills fell to the pale floor tiles.
Derrick became furious. "LOOK WHAT YOU DID YOU @#$%&!"
Joy remained silent.
"Well? Pick it up!"
She went into a cupboard while Derrick continuously cursed at her.
Suddenly, she pinned down Derrick and gave him a shot. He fell asleep almost
instantly.
Early the next morning, Derrick woke up and Nurse Joy walked in.
"Feeling better?"
Derrick gave a false smile. "Yes."
"Good."
"I'd like to go for a morning walk."
"Well, nobody's stopping you." Derrick left out of the building and
turned his head back to the hospital. Joy was looking at him suspiciously. He
kept walking until he was behind what remained of the central park trees.
Derrick ran and ran until he got to a cliff. He looked down to the
bottom and held his breath.
"Ughh.."
"Huh?" Derrick turned around to find a body laying on the ground. He
turned the body over to find it was.
"Aurora?"
"Yyes?"
"I need to get you to the center!"
"It's too late, I've lost too much blood. I'll just be a burden to
the doctors."
"Nobody bodered to find you? Why?"
"I'm a rocket.."
"....."
"But I still have a pokemon that might be able to help you. All three
legendaries are weak against him."
"Legendaries?"
"Nobody bothered to tell you? They've destroyed so much already...."
"Aurora?"
"............."
Derrick took the pokeball in her hand and opened it.
When he saw who it was, they both freaked. "Cloyster?"
----- Back at Route 9 -----
"Help, I feel drained.." Kathy's friend, who got shocked in the
pokecenter was still drowsy.
"We're almost at Cerulean, don't worry Shelly."
Since no one was able to help them in the pokecenter, and
communications were down for some reason, they had to go on with their limited
resources for a few extra days. Though they received hints, they had no idea
that cities had been destroyed and people killed.
"How come we haven't seen a single trainer since the powerplant?"
Vince asked.
"I have a bad feeling about this.." Brett and Wendy said at the same
time.
"Come on!" Kathy urged them, "Cerulean is the only sign of
civilization in miles!"
A few hours later, they arrived at their destination, but something
was wrong, dead wrong.
"Hello? There's nobody around!" Wendy shrieked. A chill went down all
five trainers' spines. The streets of Cerulean were deserted. There were no
cars out, all the stores were closed. Even the pokecenter was abandoned.
"Monsters?" Brett questioned.
"No, a ghost town," Vince pointed out.
"But, why?" Shelly was confused. "Why would so many people just leave
their homes?"
"Who knows?" Kathy started walking again. "In movies like this, there
is always a weird old guy lurking around these places. Lets go find him!"
"Um, okay." Brett walked up to a door and knocked. "Hello? Anybody
home?"
"Looters!" someone on the inside cried.
"No, we're not lo..." BOOM
The door opened and everyone screamed. A crazy woman had fired a
rifle bullet right through Brett's head. "Git off my property! She screeched."
Everyone obeyed and ran away.
"What was that?" Wendy cried.
"That was crazy Ethel." The shrieked and turned around to find an
old man had answered. "She wanted to stay behind and protect her things."
"What about you?" Kathy questioned suspicously.
"You don't just go around blowing people's heads off!" Vince
shouted.
"Hey, you're very fortunate I found you," the man replied. "I'm here
to pick up any wandering trainers who haven't a clue what's going on."
"Like us," Shelly muttered. "Where's everybody else?"
"They're hiding in a cave from the Legendary Birds, even Misty
chickened out!"
"But," Kathy butted in, "I thought the birds did all the hiding from
the people?"
"You have much to learn, child, but we must return to my basement in
case they arrive. Lavender Town is the only other known place that remains
untouched."
"Huh?"
"Celadon and Saffron have been destroyed, and the power is out
everywhere else." The old man led them in the house and shut the door behind
them.
