"I've decided to go to Viridian City," Derrick announced weeks
ago in the Ivory Island base.
"What? Why?" Tank asked. "We kinda need you here to fix up
things."
"Well, I'm gonna try for the Earth Badge."
"Are you crazy?! You gotta face Giovanni!"
"and...?"
"And he's the leader of Team Rocket. He'll have you killed."
"That's why I have to leave now, before he knows I'm a new
member of ATR. This is probably the only chance I'll get."
"What a fool," Tank said to himself when Derrick left the room.
[PW!] Rotting Cheese
by Dryad48
Staring: Derrick Tamarack
Appearances by: Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny, Cheese (once an
AGNPer) sort of, and the guy from Unsolved Mysteries.
Derrick had just finished walking past the sandy, rugged shores
of Pallet and arrived in the lively part of town. Well, not really. "Where is
everyone?" The streets were empty and most of the buildings were closed. An old
woman in a walker happened to walk by VERY slowly. The wrinkles on her face
looked like the Rockies seen from above. It appeared as though she was hiding a
few tennis balls in the back of her sweater. He held his breath and approached
her. "What's going on here?"
"There's been a homicide at the cliffs. Practically everyone in
town is there."
"Except you?"
"I'm on my way, I started heading out this morning." She pointed
to a house across the street.
"Okay....." Derrick set out for the cliffs.
"Wait," she shouted, "I was wondering if you could take me
there." But her voice was to low to be heard, even in the silence.
----- At the cliffs of Pallet Town -----
Derrick pushed his way through the crowds. "People please!"
Officer Jenny shouted. "There's nothing to see here! Go home!"
"Whattaya mean nothing to see here? Who's body is it?" a man
asked.
"Yeah!" the crowd argued. Another man with a camera was up in
front.
"If you know any information about this case, please contact us
at.."
Suddenly, Nurse Joy rushed in. "I have important information
regarding the victim." All the newsreporters dashed her way. "Um, apparantly,
the body has been lying there for quite some time. He suffered from fierce cut
wounds from a sharp object of some sort."
"This is nonsense!" a doctor shouted out loud. "This was a freak
accident! You people are only looking for someone else to blame besides
yourselves." Everyone ignored the doctor and turned back to Joy, except for
Derrick. "Can't you see that the cuts are from the jagged rocks? The flood last
year washed away all the stains!"
"Do you know who it is?" one reporter asked.
"uhh, yeah.." All the hanging microphones closed in on her. "Oww!
hey! Aieeh! Meeh! Back up people, you're hitting me!" Everyone moved back.
"Okay, it is the body of someone who has been missing for quite some time. He
is the son of the S.S. Anne Captain."
"What's his name?"
"Let me check.." Joy searched through the documents. "Ah, the name
is......" She stopped reading.
"Well?"
"Um, well, I think there's been a mistake. I mean, what kinda
idiot would call his son Cheese?" Derrick froze. He seemed to remember meeting
a pokemon trainer by the name of Cheese.
----- Flashback -----
"Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." Cheese kept babbling on and on for hours
that night and was giving Derrick a headache.
"I gotta find some way to lose this guy," Derrick thought to
himself.
"So, you get what I'm saying?"
"Um, yeah. Hey, I have an idea. Why don't we race back to Pallet
Town? Loser pays for dinner."
"Yeah! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!"
"Ready! Set! Go!" Cheese ran as fast as he could. Derrick ran as
fast as he could also, in the opposite direction, and jumped into the bushes.
----- Reality -----
"He must have stupidly fallen off the cliff," Derrick said to
himself.
"This boy's pokemon could still be alive!" Joy announced. "They
could be very ill, but still be reliable witnesses." They loaded the body into
an ambulance and left.
"Ok, NOW there's nothing to see, goodbye! Everyone slowly walked
back." Derrick stood at the cliffs watching the sun set that evening. Millions
of thoughts rushed through his head.
"If I just withstood that annoyance for a few more minutes...."
Derrick sighed.
"Excuse me?" The old woman with the creaky walker came up to
him. "Am I too late?" Derrick ignored her and walked back to town. "Hey wait!
Wait! O geez, now I have to walk back to my house."
Once he got back, Derrick rented a room in a crummy motel and
slept right away. He slept soundly until..
Bam! The door burst open and some cops entered the room.
"Whwhat's going on?"
"Are you Derrick Tamarack?"
"Yes."
"You're under arrest for murder of Cheese."
"What? Now it's a crime to eat dairy products?"
"No, the dead guy from the cliffs."
"Ooooohhhhh. Hey, I didn't kill him!"
"You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can, and
will be used against you in the court of law."
Derrick woke up and jumped out of bed breathing heavily.
Knock, knock, knock.
"What do you want?!"
"Geez, I guess you ain't getting ya sheets cleaned mister!"
Derrick looked at his watch.
"It's four in the morning!"
"Hey, I wan't to get this shitass routine done with as soon as
possible, you're the only customer here." Derrick opened the door.
"That's no way to treat your customers."
"Yeah, whattaya know you murderer." Derrick froze. "You think I
didn't see it?" Derrick backed up and the maid picked up a dead cockroach from
the ground. "Look what he did, my pretties!" She showed the squished bug to a
cage of cockroaches under the bucket of dirty mops. "Uh, I'm outta here."
Derrick left the motel and passed the old woman on her way home,
STILL. "Viridian City better not have something going on too," Derrick said to
himself as he left the city limits.
"Ughh," The old woman placed her key into the door. Suddenly, a
crowd of women ran by her. "What's going on?"
"They're having a big sale at Pacy's!" a girl shreiked with
delight. "Everything is 50% off starting at five o'clock.
"Well I better mosey on down there.."
