From: Chuck Einhorn <unicorns@mmtcnet.com> Subject: [PW!] The Fighting Dojo, Part 3 Date: Sunday, August 22, 1999 7:36 PM Despite troll overload, I am capable of continuing my writing. Joy! I must say the influx of new, bad trolls is a bit much. Jeezus Chraust, give me Marcus and LS any day, they can be funny at times, unlike the whole lot of um. The gym leader again spoke up. "This is a special match. You win, and you recieve a Pokémon, of course. First you get a free sample! Hitmonchan!" The Pokéball looked tiny in his large hands. He threw it, and the expected Hitmonchan came out. It hurled his fists a few times, just to show off. Dernam (Jack, snicker snicker) reached down and dropped his own, and Nidorino came out in a ready position. "Hitmonchan, Comet Punch!" The Hitmonchan let lose a flurry of lighting fast punches, and Nidorino ducked and weaved, attempting to avoid them. Dernam didn't like yelling at his Pokémon. He only talked in a normal conversation voice. "Horn Attack, up the middle." Nidorino backed off, then leaped head-first into the Hitmonchan's stomach. It fell over and quickly recovered. It came back with a Fire Punch, but it did little to Nidorino's tough skin, as it had little special power. He seemed a bit fazed, though. "Double Kick." Nidorino turned quickly and gave the Hitmonchan a bashing with his back legs. The Chan faltered, but stayed on it's feet. "Hitmonchan, Ice Punch!" The Hitmonchan backed up and prepared to let fly. Nidorino had other ideas, and he didn't need to be told. He used Rolling Kick. Dernam had taught him that himself. Nidorino unexpectedly rushed forward, jumped, did a somersault, and landed his right foot righ on the Hitmonchan's head. The poor thing didn't know what hit him, and he fell over. His trainer recalled him. "Good, so you know something. Now you won't be so lucky. Your second sample!" His followers were making a ruckus now, yelling and hooting, cheering and booing. His second Pokémon was a Hitmonlee. Dernam recalled Scyther and threw Scyther in to play. "Take Down." Scyther opened her wings and flew at the Hitmonlee. She was fast enopugh to catch it off gaurd, and she bowled it over. It got back up, lightning quick, and delivered a strong Jump Kickas Scyther came to a halt in front of him. Fortunately, her chitonous exoskeleton deflected most of the blow, and she reached out with one hand, hooked the Lee in the crook of her arm, and threw it down at the ground. It managed to land on it's feet. "Hitmonlee, Double Kick!" The Lee jumped forward, swinging it's legs at Scyther. She buzzed backwards, then Slashed him. The Hitmonlee fell, then picked itself up. "Meditate!" Bad move, Dernam thought. The Hitmonlee crossed it's legs, and started to meditate. "Skull Bash." The karate guy hadn't expected that. Scyther landed, planted her legs down, and tucked her head in. Then, she opened her wings, and sent them into overdrive. The last thing the Lee saw was a huge bug flying at his forhead as he opened his eyes. He flipped over, and landed in front of his trainer. "Gggrrrr, little baka!" "I know full well what that means." "Fine then! Now I'm serious! Machamp!" He let another one fly and the Machamp came out. "Ma! Amp!" The big man was grinning widely now, sure of victory. "As am I." He dropped his last Pokéball. Gyarados. She knocked over a couple of trainees on release, and let out a vicious screech. The man's grin quickly faded. Dernam new a Machamp was strong, but slow. "Hydro Pump." Gyarados aimed at the awe-stricken Machamp and let loose. It did an ariel, then fell on his face. He picked himself up and shook off. "Grrrrrrrr! Siesmic Toss!" The Machamp ran at Gyarados, and tried to pick her up. Fat chance. She headbutted the Machamp. It comically whirled around for a while, then fell, comepletely out. Dernam 3, Karate Guy, zip. "Ummm, uhhhhhh, errrrr, Ok.........." The guy didn't have a very good vocabulary after a loss. "Well, a deal is a deal. 1 Pokémon. Just 1, mind you." They crowd was flabbergasted. They weren't used to seeing this guy lose. Dernam quickly weighed the pros and cons. "Hitmonlee." "Very well, then. Here is your Hitmonlee. I guess you earned it." "Thankee-sai." "Hey, that isn't Japanese." "A thank you from the Baronies." Stephin King, The Dark Tower series. "What ever. Take it, you won it fair." The man handed him a ball, inside containing his new Hitmonlee. He was ecstatic, but he kept a straight face. He bowed deeply and walked out the door. Amazing how far he had come in so little time. 2 low-level officials that didn't like him, and 1 more Poké for the collection. He looked around town for a bit. After getting lunch, he saw a brochure. Icy's Bug Gym? That was a new one........... TBC Ethan Einhorn P.S. I've heard of the Bug Gym, but I need more information if I'm to write anything for Dernam there. If someone could kindly give me some info, please do so.
