Subject: [PW!] Delta recieves new orders
Date: Wednesday, September 01, 1999 7:17 PM
Delta was getting thoroughly tired of waiting on his partner to show up.
Finally, he got up, and stormed out the door. Just then, his com-link
beeped. "Looks like no one had enough of a death wish to help train your
sorry ass." said a male secretary on the other end of the com. "You're gonna
just have to fly solo for a while. Make a name for yourself. Find your own
jobs, we don't have time to process your orders."
Well, looks like he was on the short end of the stick for now. That was
fine with him, he knew if he kept tugging long enough and hard enough, he'd
be the victor. He jogged into the forest, heading northeast toward Mt. Moon.
He need not make any pretense about moving quietly. After years as a
woodsman, and the honing of his skills by his time in the seals, the
movements came naturally, and he left very little trail to follow. The sun
was high, and beating down on the canopy above him. It spurred him on, into
a brisk run, occasionally branches slid around his chest. At midnight, he
lay down under a tree, and slept.
At four A.M. he awoke, and resumed his run again. The sun was just
beginning to peek its weary rays over the horizon, like a child in a crib.
Clouds began to shroud the sky, and thunder loomed just over event horizon.
"Doom and gloom hath once again come to the House of Usher." said Delta
aloud to noone in particular. "Ah, Poe, I could almost see your hand in this
sunrise. 'Tis fitting indeed that the beginning of my journey begin shrouded
in nightmare." Delta stopped running, and took a moment to admire his
surroundings. He took a deep breath, and took of again, refreshed and on his
second wind. Mt. Moon shoed its ashen face only a few moments later.
