A tired, chewed-up, overly-sore Gads walked into the Celadon City
Pokecenter once again, Monk-chan sleeping upon his head. Mara and
Sketch entered shortly after.
Mara went straight for bed. "Gads, I'm going to *YAWN* bed."
"All right. See you in the morning."
Mara walked back to the habitation areas. Sketch poked at Gads's leg.
"You want back in your Pokeball?"
"Jig..."
"All right. Sketch, RETURN!"
The Jigglypuff returned to it's Pokeball. The Nurse Joy rushed over,
seeing yet-ANOTHER beat-up trainer enter on this day.
"OH MY! Do we need a streacher? You're in pretty rough shape..."
Gads just looked at Nurse Joy with an even look.
Nurse Joy then remembered an event from earlier that day. "Oh right,
not me... oh, and Gads, there's a message for you from one Master, and
another from a Marcus Trisan. Both want you to call back."
Gads looked up. Messages from BOTH? The Rattata must have cause more
problems then he had thought. Gads walked over to the vid-phone and
dialed the Dojo's number.
"Hello" The face of Tip filled the screen. Tup was jumping around
behind him, trying to get a look. "Oh, hey Gads! Nice catch... your
Rattata are basically overunning the Dojo. How the HELL did you catch
so many, anyways?"
"... long, long story. Too late for that. Maybe I'll tell you when I
arrive back in Saffron in a couple of days."
"WOAH! You're coming back to face Sabrina THAT SOON! Are you ready?"
"No. I'm just passing through to check something out with Master,
then I do need to meet with Sabrina, but not for a match. The Master
and my father wished to speak to me?"
Tip nodded. "Yeah. The Master's busy with a match, so how about I
get your father?"
"All right." As Tip (with Tup close behind) left the Vidphone, Gads
wondered who the Master was fighting. It couldn't be a simple 'I
challenge for a Hitmonchan or lee match.' as Pops handled almost all of
those these days. A lot of people mistake the imposing, menacing
tower of a man that is his father with the true Dojo Master. It had to
be either an important someone, or a grudge match for Master himself to
honor it.
"Gads? Are you there?" The face of Marcus Trisan, Gads's father, lit
up the screen. The gruff, usually serious face many people mistakenly
believe belong to the Dojo "Master" was showing unusually-large amounts
of worry.
"Oh, hey Pops. You wanted to talk to me?"
"Yeah. On first notice... are you all right? I hope that nasty
little mecha-thingie didn't hurt my little Gads, or else I'll be force
to go find it and smash it into little, itty-bitty, teeny-weenie,
bite-sized..."
Gads sighed. It was a miracle that he was able to even get to travel
with his overprotective father. It took reaching second dan to convince
Pops to let him finally go. "Yeah Pops, I'm fine. I'm banged up, but
something tells me he's in far-worse shape."
Marcus's face changed from worry to relief. "Oh, good." Then from
relief to pride. "That's my boy. Ever the champion, fighting to the
end, even when things are bleakest. Are you heading back here soon?"
"Yeah. After I defeat the local Gym leader, and then find out who
sold Mara that attract potion..."
"Ah, Mara's with you. Then I guess she told you..."
"Told me what?"
Gads's father actually looked a little nervous. "Um... well... I
asked her mother to marry me... and she accepted. We're getting
married. Mara's going to be your sister soon."
"WHAT!" Gads could just FEEL the headache coming on. Not only was
Mara going to be tagging along from now on, but she was going to be his
SISTER! And she didn't tell him... "I thought you and Ms. Tifer broke
up?"
"Son, that was ancient history. We got back together a while back,
and thing have been going pretty well."
"Well... congrats. When's the date?" Gads was NOT looking forward to
another wedding this soon.
"Oh, no date yet." Gads let out a sigh of relief. Last thing he
needed was another disaster of a wedding, and events like that involving
Dojo members tend to be a recipe for trouble.
"Anything else interesting happen?"
"Oh, you mean besides the sudden flood of Rattata roaming the Dojo?"
Gads put on his best innocent face. "How did you CATCH all the damn
things anyways?"
"Long, long story..."
"Well, we'll have plenty of time to go over it when you get here.
Master wishes to speak to you." Gads gulped. This was either very,
very good... or very, very bad.
Master's old, kindly face appeared in place of Gads's fathers. "Hello
Gads. You've been busy. First a Pokemon Race, then going toe-to-toe
with supermonsters."
Gads scratched the back of his head, grinning. Master was praising
him. "Oh, and lets not forget creating an endangered species out of one
of the most common Pokemon types." Gads stopped grinning. "What are
you going to do with 42 Rattatas, anyways?"
"Um... I dunno. Give them to the younger trainers? Start an adoption
drive?"
"That could work. Tip and Tup will probably take one each, if they
now don't have a fear of Rattata from their experiance when they
teleported in. As for the remaining 40, we can probably keep them in
storage, giving them to various trainers who pass through."
"All right. Just curious, who were you fighting against?"
Master smiled. "You probably at least know who it is. After all, you
did help save his wife."
"Tenchi Inverse? Man oh man... it just never stops..."
"Hmmm?"
"Oh yeah." Gads gave Master a breif recap of his last few days
events, starting with the Big P Pokemon Race, the going on to the
encounter with the Cult-ish of Goddish, then to the disaster of a
wedding and the battle of Protopticon, his meeting with Mara, the events
at the Celadon Pokemart, and ending with the recent disaster in the
fields outside Celadon.
"Oh my." Master just smiled at his student. "You're right. It just
never stops when you're involved, does it?"
"Yeah... *YAWN* Is it all right if I go now. I've had a mimimum of
sleep these last few days, and I'm really tired..."
"Go ahead, child. We shall talk more when you arrive at the Dojo
either tomorrow, or the day after."
"All right. G'night." The screen on the vidphone blacked out. Gads
hung up the receiver and walked back to the room where he and Mara were
staying. Gads looked over at his sister-to-be. Whatever Mara was
hiding from him, it could wait until tomorrow. Sleep comes first. Gads
took the sleeping Monk-chan off his head and put him down on a blanket,
then went to sleep himself.
