Gads made his way to the Pokemon Center. Thank goodness the business
at the wedding was over. Help had arrived, and not another incident had
occured. Thank goodness. That gave Gads the chance to realize exactly
HOW hurt he was.
"Damn it... and that stupid Psybeam blast ripped apart the pocket
holding my painkillers, too..."
"Mankey." Monk-chan saved Gads the additional pain by actually
walking besides him instead of upon his head.
"Oh shut up."
Among other things, the pain was putting Gads in a particularly foul
mood. The often-cheery dojo trainer was now acting quite the opposite.
They finally reached the Pokemon Center, and entered.
"Hello, welcome to the Celadon City Pokemon Center. How may I... oh
my!"
The resident Nurse Joy rushed over the the VERY battered-looking Gads.
"Are you ok? Maybe you should lie down. I'll call for an emergency
team..."
"NOT ME!" Nurse Joy backed off at that. Gads had the decency left to
look ashamed. "Er... sorry. It's been a really bad day. I'm fine.
It looks worse than it is."
The TV in the background was rattling off a news story. "... and in
other news, downtown Celadon was destroyed in a battle that started over
a kidnapping related to our main story. Protopticon went on a rampage
that destroyed much of the downtown area until he was stopped by the
combined efforts of a giant ditto named Replicus, and a trainer of the
Fighting Dojo, Gads Trisan..." Gads groaned as his image lit up the TV
screen. Now Master would know, and he'd be...
"GADS! YOO-HOO! OVER HERE!"
Gads turned around to see someone he didn't expect to see outside of
the Dojo...
"Mara? What are you doing here?"
The spunky, blue hared girl dashed over to Gads. Unlike Gads, she was
in more traditional garb for the dojo. She was wearing an off-white gi
with the Dojo symbol on the back, and a dark-blue shirt underneath. She
had a red backpack slung over one arm.
"Master sent me. He has a few things for you."
"Great... one moment." Gads turned back to Nurse Joy and handed her
the Pokeballs for Dow, Ringer, and Vinal. "Monk-chan, you go too. I'm
not sure that Super Potion cured everything."
"Mankey." The Mankey followed the Nurse into the back.
Gads turned back to Mara. "Ok... how much trouble am I in?"
"Actually, none. Master says good job. Protecting those who can't
protect themselves and all that. He also says you handled your Pokemon
well, even that... Drowzee."
"Huh? How does he know?"
"Are you KIDDING? Your fight has been basically playing all day on
various news programs. The reporters somehow captured the entire
thing."
"Great..."
"Oh, and Master asked me to bring a few things for you."
Mara pulled out of her backpack a thermos, a pill bottle, another set
of Gads's outfit, and a small note. Gads took the note first.
It read:
Gads-
Good job dealing with the disaster today. You have been increased
to the rank of 3rd Dan based upon your performance. Also, I've had Mara
bring you a few sets of your clothes, some of your painkillers, and some
of my 'special' brew. Best of luck.
-Master
P.S.- Mara's finally acheived the rank of Black Belt. So, she'll now
be able to join you on your journey.
"WHAT!" That last part caught Gads by suprise.
"I'm going with you. Master said I could. He says it's to 'keep you
out of trouble'. And who better than your ol' childhood friend?" Mara
had a smug look on her face. Gads knew better the to argue with her
when she was in THAT mode. There was just no winning.
"Great."
"Here. Drink this." Mara handed the thermous to Gads. "It's the
Master's Herbal Brew. It'll increase your recovery rate."
"But that stuff tastes like..."
"Crap? I know, but it's good for you."
Gads opened up the thermous and filled the cup with some of the orche
liquid, then drank it. "Ick..." He closed back up the thermous, then
began to put it in his pocket... before he realize it wasn't there
anymore. Gads scratched the back of his head, then remembered what else
Mara had brought for him.
"Um... can I have my change of clothes?"
Mara giggled at that. "Sure." She handed over the clothes and
painkillers to Gads, who headed into one of the small rooms. After a
few moments, Gads reappeared with the taters of his old clothes, and
dumped them into the trash.
"Um... Gads? Where are all your other changes of clothes?"
"In my pockets. Where else?"
"How DO you keep all that stuff in your pockets?"
"I dunno. Comes naturally, I guess."
Nurse Joy reappeared with Gads's pokemon, a much-healthier Monk-chan
following closely behind. Gads took the pokeballs back from Joy. Upon
seeing his trainer, Monk-chan dashed over and lept upon Gads's head.
Once in a comfy spot, he promptly made up for lost time by
Karate-Chopping his trainer.
"Ohhhh... Monk-chan, you may be fully recovered, but I'M not..."
Mara just began laughing. "Same ol' pair you were when you left.
Now, what's next?"
Gads thought for a moment. "First, we need to buy some more potions
and heals. Then, I'm heading for the Celadon Gym..."
Mara grabbed Gads's wrist and began running. "OOOH! We're going to
the Celadon Shopping Center! I hear they have EVERYTHING! Maybe
they'll even have a Water Stone for Whirly!"
"Whirly? Your mom gave you her Polywhirl?"
"Yeah. He helped me past the Black-Belt test. He's the only one I
got, but he's GREAT! Now LET'S GO!"
Gads groaned as he was pulled out of the Pokemon Center and through
the streets of Celadon. "Not so hard! I'm still injured! Are you
listening?"
TBC?
(OOC: I know I don't have Mara's WG up yet. I'll probably post it
tomorrow. If you want to get a general image, think cheerful. However,
this story was just running rampant in my mind, and I had to get it out
NOW! Go figure...)
