Today's battle features the reigning Pokemon League Champ, Ash Ketchum, vs. Trent Retwin!" said the announcer. "Ash will be using his famous Pikachu, while Trent is using Sandslash!" Ash narrowed his eyes at his opponent, Trent, and turned his cap sideways. He threw his Pokeball down to the center of the arena. "Pikachu, go!" The Pokeball was empty. "Pika?" Pikachu tugged at Ash's pant sleeve. He gently kicked it into the arena. "Just go!" snapped Ash. "PIKA!" Pikachu jumped forward and grinded its small teeth together. "Slash, slash sand," mumbled Sandslash. It grudgingly stepped into the arena. "The battle begins... NOW!" boomed the announcer. Sandslash and Pikachu circled around each other in the flat, featureless arena, staring each other down. Sandslash finally slashed at Pikachu, barely missing. "PIKA!" shrieked Pikachu. It started crying and ran back to Ash. "Looks like Pikachu... is... running away..." said the announcer, uneasily. "Pikachu, Thundershock!" commanded Ash. Pikachu suddenly turned around and shot out a huge lightning bolt at Sandslash. Sandslash took the hit lightly at first, but soon discovered that the electricity sparked a fire on his back. "SSSLLLAAAASH!" Sandslash curled up into a ball and rolled around the arena uncontrollably, trying to put out the fire. "Oh, no! Pikachu will be smashed if it can't get away in time!" alerted the announcer. The crowd roared with approval. Pikachu was desperately trying to keep of Sandslash, who was unknowingly chasing Pikachu around the arena. "CHAAAA!" squealed Pikachu. A huge, sickening crushing sound was heard, then a collective groan from the audience. Ash turned white. "Slash?" "Ugh... well... it looks like... Trent has won..." stuttered the announcer. "We'll be back tomorrow... with 3rd seeded Lance vs. 62nd seeded Derrick..." TBC... Sirius Quote of the day: "I dunno. I've heard things about beef."
