"In tonight's battle, the top-seeded Sabrina will face the 64th seeded Lass." Sabrina and Lass entered the arena from opposite sides of the stadium. The battle arena is completely flat and empty. The crowd roared at the entrance of the two competitors. Lass blushed nervously and Sabrina remained expressionless. "To remind the viewers... these matches are one on one. The winner goes on to the second round, but even then the Pokemon cannot be changed," noted the announcer. "With that said... let the battle begin!" Sabrina calmly lifted a Pokeball from her hand and released the Alakazam inside. Lass sent out her Clefairy, who nearly shrieked at the sight of it. "Sabrina is using her Alakazam, while Lass is using Clefairy. Could be an interesting match. Though Alakazam has much more experience than Clefairy and is very powerful, Colorless types usually have an edge over the Psychic type." The bell sounded. Both Pokemon got into a fighting stance. "Clefairy, don't be scared!" shouted Lass, trying to be heard above the noise of the crowd. "Just concentrate and stay focused, and Alakazam can't hurt you!" "Clefairy..." "Alakazam, win it quickly. Psybeam!" ordered Sabrina. "Ala!" The psychic titan shot out a huge beam of psychic energy at Clefairy, who barely dodged in time. "Clefairy!" gasped Clefairy. Alakazam shot out more and more beams, with Clefairy escaping each time. After a minute or two, Clefairy was out of breath. "Now's the time to attack, Clefairy! Metronome Psybeam back at it!" Clefairy began to weakly wave its fingers back and forth. Alakazam, about to shoot another Psybeam, was perplexed. It stared at the fingers, waving left and right, left and right... "Kazam?" "CLEFAIRY!" A much more powerful beam rammed into Alakazam, knocking it off of its feet. Before Alakazam could recover, Clefairy hopped on its head. "Doubleslap!" "Faaaairy!" it squealed. Clefairy slapped Alakazam's forehead over and over again, dizzying it. "Alakazam, enough!" scolded Sabrina. Alakazam promptly pushed Clefairy off with its spoon. "Manipulation." Alakazam narrowed its eyes at the Clefairy. Clefairy suddenly was surrounded by a strange blue glow. It then proceeded to slap itself silly. "Clefairy, snap out of it!" pleaded Lass, but the match was already over. Clefairy fell to the ground, unconscious. "Well... that wraps up our first showdown, with Sabrina moving in to the second round. Come back tomorrow, for the second of thirty two first round games, with second-seeded Ash and Pikachu vs. 63rd-seeded Trent and Sandslash." TBC... Sirius Quote of the day: "I dunno.
