From: Roberto Perez-Vila <RobfromVoid@prodigy.net> Subject: [PW!] Run-in With the Law Date: Sunday, September 05, 1999 11:53 PM Luthor, the Slowpoke, washes up on the eastern shore of Cinnabar Island. He had been floating on the sea for quite a while now. He had destroyed all the generic Tentacool that dared interfere with his trip to Cinnabar by blasting them with his Confusion attack. Defeating all the Level 5 and Level 10 Tentacool made him feel even more powerful than he usually thinks he is. Once he sets his four paws on firm sand, he cries out, "I am invincible! Nothing can defeat Luthor!" At this point, he lets out a very slow, yet sinister sounding maniacal laugh, which is rather laughable in and of itself. This insane laugh draws the attention of a nearby Police Officer, who leaps on her motorcycle and races to where Luthor is beached, wondering if a raving lunatic is terrorizing the people on the beach. She is only half right. No one on the beach is terrified, which is immediately noticed by their smirks and chuckles, but Luthor is unquestionably a raving lunatic. Officer Jenny leaps off her motorcycle, brushes some blue hair out of her face, and walks up to Luthor, "What are you doing here all alone? Where is your trainer, little one?" Luthor stares at the high-heel clad feet in front of him, wondering how they are speaking, but at the same time angered by the fact that they have insulted him, "I am not little, strange creature! I am evil, the only true path to righteousness." Jenny falls down to her knees and places her hand on the Slowpoke's chin, lifting Luthor's vision up to her own. It takes a moment for Luthor to realize that the creature in front of him is a human being of the female persuasion, but he finally does. Officer Jenny says, "I'm surprised you can speak English, but you're wrong. Evil is bad. You should be a good Pokemon and obey your trainer. Now where is he or she?" Luthor looks confused, as usual, "How can you say evil is bad? That's absurd. Unless..." After a dramatic pause, Luthor backs away from Jenny, not wanting her hand to touch him anymore, "Are you a hero?" Jenny chuckles politely and shrugs, "Well, some people call me a hero, but I think that's a bit dramatic. I'm just a law enforcer. My name's Officer Jenny, and I make sure that evil people like Team Rocket don't do evil things!" Luthor is dumbfounded by Jenny's statement, "No. It cannot be. Heroes are just make believe. They're just in comic books to mess up the wonderful plans of villains, those who do good things." "Villains don't do good things!" Jenny makes a face at Luthor, wondering who has taught the Pokemon what he knows, "They do evil things. Very evil things like stealing and attacking people!" Luthor nods, wondering why the human is saying the words 'good' and 'evil' as if they are different, "Yes, villains do evil things. Evil things *are* good things. They are one and the same. What is... Team Rocket?" Luthor had heard some kids mutter the name while they passed through the Seafoam Caves, but he never fully understood what the words meant. "I think it's best I don't tell you." Jenny says with a huff, picking Luthor up like a little baby. In a way, Luthor is an infant, since he isn't used to the way the world works. Jenny scolds Luthor as he places him in a basket on her motorcycle. Jenny waves her finger at Luthor, "Maybe the Police can teach you the difference between good and evil! I know for a fact Team Rocket wouldn't. They'd just exploit you to do their evil bidding!" "Team Rocket... is evil?" Luthor's eyes light up with hope, "I must find out more about them." Jenny shakes her hand, placing her hands on her hips, "Oh no you don't! With the way you're talking, I'd think you'd already have met them. I'm taking you down to the Police Station. If you have a trainer, they'll have to go there to pick you up, and if your trainer is a Rocket, then we'll make sure they don't teach you any more of this nonsense!" Luthor feels threatened for a moment, before remembering who he is, "You cannot capture me! I am Luthor!" He focuses on using a Confusion attack on the pitiful human, but is distracted before he can, when another human runs up to Jenny. The middle-aged man is wearing a lab coat, though he is on the beach, and thick glasses. He has black hair and beady dark eyes. The man begs to Jenny, "Please, don't take Luthor away! He's my Pokemon! I didn't know there were leash laws on Cinnabar, really, I didn't! Please don't take him away! I'll die! I'll die, for sure! He's been with me for years! I work for Mr. Fuji at his Lab. Like many scientists, I have no wife, and Luthor is all I have in this world!" After a long lecture about good and evil from Officer Jenny, the policewoman grabs Luthor and hands him to the scientist. The man smiles and gives his thanks, then runs away with Luthor in his arms. He races for the Lab he works at. Instead of going into the respectable Fuji Labs, he runs into the ruins of the *other* Lab in Cinnabar Island, the one that had spawned Mewtwo and was rumored to have spawned Mimic and Doppler, as well. During all this, Luthor is still trying to figure out what's going on, "Are you taking me to Team Rocket?" The scientists lets out a long, nasal laugh and replies, "Yeah, you *could* say that, my precious rare, talking Slowpoke." -Luthor
