Robert hugs the neck of his Pidgeot tightly, afraid he's going to fall off, "It'll
all be over soon. The Pidgeot knows the fastest route to Viridian City. I'll be on
safe ground in no time at all..." He looks like he is about to hyperventilate.
Due to Robert's worried nature caused by a mild fear of heights, he can't enjoy his
surroundings. The beautiful white puffy clouds are all around him and Rilli, and
there are clear skies straight ahead. The clear blue sky is peaceful and serene, and
a few Pidgeys and Pidgeotto fly around their older, tamed brethren, the two Pidgeots
who carry Robert and Rilli.
"At least there's no storms. The Pidgeot Express knows what it's doing..." Robert
reassures himself.
The sound of Robert's voice is gone with the wind, and Rilli can't hear any of her
boyfriend's worried ramblings. She, as opposed to Robert, is relaxing on her
Pidgeot, sure that her saddle and seat belt is enough to keep her from falling.
After ten minutes of airborne travel, Robert loosens up. He sits up straight in his
Pidgeot and lets the breeze freely run through his messy hair. He soon tenses up
again when he sees a flock of Butterfree fluttering southward in a hurry, "AHHH!!!
How did those Bugs get all the way up here?! They usually stay close to the ground,
I think..."
Mithril-rama sees the flock of Butterfree, as well, and notices that they look
spooked. "I wonder why they're in such a hurry." The Butterfree all disappear into
the clouds, as if they are hiding from something. "Maybe a plane scared them."
"Gyaaaooooo!" A very loud squawking noise cries out, followed by an even louder
thunderclap!
Robert looks all around him, trying to find a gray cloud, but there are none, "Where
did that Thunder come from?" His question is soon answered when he sees a sparkling
golden mass coming from the north. As the airborne creature flies closer, Robert
notices that it is actually a bird. "A bird with a glittering golden body? What is
that? Quetzalcoatl? El Dorado?" Robert's knowledge of Latin American history is more
apparent than his knowledge of Pokemon at that particular instant, since anyone who
knows anything about Pokemon knows about the Legendary Bird - Zapdos.
Mithril-rama is the next to notice Zapdos. Instead of panicking, she fumbles for her
Pokepedia, points it at the thunder bird, and listens as the device explains,
"Zapdos, the Electric/Flying Legendary Bird Pokemon. The one living specimen ever
found, captured for a brief instant by Rodney Kenneth Evojian, measured 5' 3" in
height and weighed approximately 116 pounds. It is said to appear from clouds while
dropping enormous lightning bolts..." If the Pokepedia says anything else about the
Pokemon, Rilli doesn't hear it, since she gulps and worriedly asks, "Enormous
lightning bolts?"
Thunderclap! The brilliant flash of lightning caused by Zapdos blinds the two
Pidgeots carrying Robert and Rilli, and they stop moving forward. The couple of
Pidgeots flap their wings to stay in the air, but are afraid to press onward.
Mithril-rama glances over at Robert, hoping he'll send out his Farfetch'd. Robert
reaches into his backpack and pulls out his Kodak Advantix camera. Rilli would fall
over if it didn't mean her immediate doom. While Robert snaps some photos of the
legendary phenomenon before him, Rilli calls out to him, "Use Farfetch'd! He's your
only Flying Pokemon!"
"Farfetch'd?" Robert puts his camera away, then shakes his head, "Farfetch'd is with
Bill... and by the time I'd figure out how to use the Pokedex to bring him back,
we'll be riding Pidgeot-ka-bobs, who wouldn't be able to fly very well. Why don't
you send out Deimos, *your* Flying Pokemon? He's much less incompetent than my
Farfetch'd."
"Deimos?" Rilli shakes her head and explains, "His wings are way too small and he
doesn't know how to Fly yet!"
Robert crosses his arms, "Oh, and you think that Farfetch'd *does* know how to Fly?"
Zapdos soars directly between the two arguing trainers on the Pidgeots, and lets out
a huge Thundershock, which weakens the Rilli's Pidgeot and causes Rilli's hair stand
on end. Zapdos continues forward and squawks, "Gyaaooo!"
Robert chuckles when he sees Rilli's new shocking hairstyle, "You look like Albert
Einstein!"
Mithril-rama pouts, "I wish I *was* Albert Einstein. Then I could figure out a way
to get rid of the Zapdos..." The Pidgeot Rilli is sitting on begins to wobble
around, showing that it is ready to faint after one more Electric attack.
"What defeats Flying Pokemon other than Electricity?" Robert ponders, while holding
his chin.
Mithril-rama thinks back to her Pokemon studies, and remembers Quethiril's Dewgong,
"Ice Pokemon..."
"Okay then! I'll just use my Ice Pokemon to defeat it!" Robert reaches for the six
Pokeballs on his belt, and cannot figure out which one to choose. He then remembers
something very important, "D'oh! I don't have any Ice Pokemon!"
Rilli is sure that there is another Pokemon Type that can defeat Flying Pokemon, but
she can't remember which it is. The fact that Zapdos is coming back for another
attack doesn't help her thought process. The Electric bird flies over Rilli's
Pidgeot and releases another Thundershock! The Pidgeot Rilli is riding faints and
starts to fall towards the ground...
"NOOOOO!" Robert shouts at the top of his lungs, "Rilli! Use your Victreebel like
you did on the S. S. Anne!"
Mithril-rama thinks fast and calls out her Victreebel, which is just as shocked as
Rilli that he's plummeting to his doom alongside his trainer. Rilli shouts,
"Victreebel, use your Vine Whips to latch onto Robert's Pidgeot up there!" The
Victreebel releases a couple of long green vines from his sides, which tie around
the Pidgeot that Robert is riding. Rilli's Victreebel realizes that he has now run
out of Vines to wrap around Rilli to keep her from falling, so he swings over
towards Mithril-rama and sucks Rilli's tight rear end into his large fly catching
mouth. Rilli sighs, "That was close."
Robert then goes back to the issue of defeating Zapdos. He snaps his fingers, "Of
course! I remember Geodude helped me defeat Lt. Surge and he also helped me defeat
Flying Bug Pokemon in the Viridian Forest. That means Rock Pokemon can defeat
Electric *and* Flying type Pokemon! Go, Graveler!" Robert grabs the third Pokeball
on his belt and presses the button. A huge gray boulder with facial features appears
directly in front of Robert, blinks, and starts to plummet to the ground! Robert
slaps his forehead and recalls Graveler into his Pokeball, "Rock Pokemon can't
jump."
Zapdos is getting ready for a third attack... one final powerful Thunder blast to
send the last Pidgeot down. How dare these measly Pidgeots invade his territory? He
is about to teach them a lesson they'll never forget... if they survive. Zapdos
starts to emit electric sparks, and he charges forward... only to crash into a
pregnant Aerodactyl! "Aeeero!"
The Aerodactyl glances at Robert, winks playfully, then proceeds to Rock Slide her
entire body onto Zapdos!
Zapdos retaliates with the Thunder attack that it was reserving for Robert's
Pidgeot, but the attack isn't strong enough to defeat the female Aerodactyl. The
Aerodactyl counters with a mighty Wing Attack, which smacks the Zapdos so hard, the
Legendary Pokemon feels like it is about to faint. Zapdos squawks one last time,
then flies away for good.
Robert scratches his head, wondering why this Pokemon came to his rescue. He asks,
"Are you Mr. Fuji's Aerodactyl?"
The Aerodactyl soars in front of Robert's face and licks him! She then starts to
shrink, until she reveals her true form - a pregnant purple Ditto. The Ditto dances
around on top of Robert's Pidgeot, and licks Robert on his jeans' crotch! "Alright!
Now's my chance to catch this Ditto once and for..."
"ROBERT!" Mithril-rama cries out from below, her Victreebel still biting onto her
butt and still holding onto Robert's Pidgeot, "Help me get up onto your Pidgeot!
We're going to have to share it until we get to Viridian City..."
Robert bites his lip, then looks at the Ditto near his lap, "Could you please help
Rilli out, Ditto?"
"Ditto!" The Pokemon shakes her head, turns into a Growlithe, and spits fire onto
one of Victreebel's vines, the only things keeping Victreebel and Rilli from falling
to their doom. The jealous Ditto is about to use Flamethrower on another one of the
vines, when Robert grabs the Ditto and throws her off the side of the Pidgeot.
"Diiiiiittttttoooooooo!!!" Thud.
Robert grabs onto Rilli's Victreebel's remaining Vines and pulls the Grass Pokemon
up to his Pidgeot. Robert helps Rilli onto his Pidgeot, and Rilli recalls Victreebel
off of her rear end. Rilli sits down behind Robert, and wraps her arms around his
waist so that she doesn't fall off, since the Pidgeots were meant to support just
one person. Robert gently rubs Rilli's hands, and smiles, "Now I know why you don't
like that Ditto that's always following us. Pidgeot, onward to Viridian City!"
Robert's briefly blinded Pidgeot continues its journey westward, as if nothing had
happened at all...
