"Oh god..." Mara paled as the gigantic Vorge entered view.
"Great. And Doppler HAD to send Putty off into the skyline. So now,
we have TWO supermonsters against a small cult. This is bad. If
Replicus were around, they MIGHT stand a chance, but without Silly
Putty, there's no Replicus, and with no Replicus, they're... doomed."
Gads made ready. The fight had barely begun, and things had already
spun out of control.
"Mankey..." Even Monk-chan didn't like the situation anymore.
"Now what?" Mara looked at Gads nervously. Surely he wasn't going to
attack that... THING.
"We need Silly back. We need Replicus to fight. That's about the
only chance for winning this thing. Anything before that is just
stalling." Gads looked over at Mara. 'Damn it... for such a damn good
martial artist, she gets spooked easily. Better try to rebuild a little
courage...'
"Come on. We're trained martial artists, and Pokemon trainers
besides. Not only that, but there's LOTS of help out there." Gads
gestured towards the large number of people involved in the conflict.
"I'm sure we'll have no problem keeping that monster busy while we wait
for Silly Putty. Besides, it's not like we're not running in there
without an advantage. That big monster IS expecting a battle with a
large number of untrained foes. He ISN'T, however, expecting two
skilled martial-artists, both with a decent number of Pokemon, joining
the fray."
"So? He turns around, blasts us, and we're gone. Besdies, how can we
HURT it. I DOUBT bare-handed attacks will do much..." It looked like
Mara would either bolt, or roll up into a ball at any moment.
"..." Gads reached into his pocket. He HATED these things, but
maybe they could work as artifical courage for Mara. Gads pulled out a
steel case. He opened it, produced a pair of 18-inch hand claws, and
handed them to Mara.
"Make use of these, then. You're better with your punching and
open-handed attacks anyways, right?"
"Yeah, but..."
"And you're a better martial artist then I am, right?"
"RIGHT!" Mara began to look a little braver at that.
"And these claws are SHARP. They'd have little trouble cutting down a
decent-sized tree. That monster's little more than an oversized
Thanksgiving Turkey. I'm more that certain you can carve yourself more
than a drumstick with those things."
"... thanks..." Mara inserted her hands, with a little trouble, into
the claws and wrapped her fist around the grip. "They're a little
tight..."
"Well, that's because those were made for me when I was 11. They're a
little tight on me, too. Don't worry about holding back. I'm certain
that he'd kill us in a second. If we somehow MANAGE to kill THAT thing,
it'd be a small loss indeed."
"But what'll you use?"
"My Pokemon, my fists, my feet, and my brain. What else?"
"But..."
"NO buts! Don't worry, I'll be fine. I WON'T attack Vorge by myself,
I promise. Besides, if his 'little buddy' wants to get involved, I have
a bone to pick with it. If I make such a damn good prize, let it come
and try to take me then. I CAN deal with it, if worse comes to worse.
I'm more then ready for our little rematch. That'll remove one
uber-monster from the fight. Hopefully, you and everyone else can deal
with Vorge." Gads's look offered no arguements. Even his tail was
thrashing about.
"Ready Monk-chan?" The Mankey looked up, then forced a fierce
expression onto its face.
"All right. Then let's get moving! We're still a short distance
away, so we have some ground to cover. Make sure NOT to get spotted by
either that towering monstrosity OR his minion." Gads, pulling his
other occupied Pokeballs out of his pocket, began to make his way to
give a helping hand to Doppler and his allies, approaching from behind
their enemies, and trying his best to avoid detection from either Vorge
or Protopticon while doing so. After a moment, Mara and Monk-chan began
to follow.
