We join CJ Smith preparing for his first match in the Fighting Pokemon
Challenge held in the Petwer City Gym. Standing in an official pokemon arena,
the announcer announced his match.
CJ received a random bye in the first round and his opponent in the second
round withdrew because his pokemon had suffered major injuries so he just spent
the almost half the day studying his competition.
"On this side we have 13 yr. old CJ Smith of Pallet Town with Marowak... and
on this side we have the Deputy Gym Trainer of the Petwer City Gym with a
Sandshrew."
The battle begin as Marowak took to the offensive and attacked with multiple
strikes with his bone. Sandshrew tried to use Fury Swipes but Marowak avoided
every one of them. Marowak then used his Bonemerang to knock Sandshrew
unconscious.
"The winner of this match CJ Smith by KO in 4:42 minutes."
An hour later, CJ and Marowak prepared for their next match against a
Hitmonlee.
The pokemon squared off as the Hitmonlee threw multiple kicks but Marowak was
able to move out the way. After being hit with a Rolling Kick and a Side Kick,
Marowak was trapped a the edge of the ring but quickly ducked Hitmonlee's
Jumping Kick, sending Hitmonlee sailing over his head and outside the set
boundaries, resulting in a DQ Victory for Marowak which sent him into the
finals.
CJ patiently waited ringside as he watched a Machamp owned by Bruno of the
Elite Four, defeated a Rhydon in an excellent 30 min. match.
CJ restoring Marowak to full health and watched as he warmed up for the match.
"Marowak, that Machamp may look tough but I believe you can beat it. You're
faster and more agile, and you have the advantage since Bruno didn't have time
to use a Potion and he had time to powerup.I really believe you can defeat him"
"In this corner, we have pokemon trainer CJ Smith and Marowak of Pallet Town
..."began the announcer,"...and in this we have the four-time defending
Fighting Pokemon Challenge Champion, Bruno of the Elite Four. around this time
the year, Bruno always take time out of his busy schedule to come to Pewter
City in order to participate in this great tournament."
"Give up and you can leave with your pokemon still able to move,"mocked Bruno.
"We made it this far and I'm in it to win it,"replied CJ," Let the battle
begin."
CJ studied the Machamp intensely as the two pokemon faced off.
Machamp nailed him with a Mega Punch and a Low Kick before he started to pummel
it with all four hands.
"Give up before your pokemon gets really hurt."
CJ couldn't watch as he realized that the worst was might be still yet to come
for Marowak.
