From: Tech Weaver <TheOver-Powerer@webtv.net> Subject: Re: [PW!] The Pikachu Platoon Date: Friday, October 29, 1999 10:09 PM Smasher walked up to the last man on the bridge north of Cerulean. Driven by the promise of a prize, he had fought his way through the gauntlet of trainers on the bridge. Triumphantly, Smasher approuches this last man. "Congratulations!" the man said. "You've beat our bridge challenge! Here is your prize!" The reaches into his pocket and hands Smasher a gold nugget. "But wait! That's not all! You've also earned the right to join Team Rocket!" The man whipped off the outfit he was wearing to reveal a Team Rocket uniform. "Team Rocket!" exclaimed Smasher. "They're those guys who killed that mother Marowak in Lavender Town several years ago!" "WE'RE those guys that killed that mother Marowak in Lavender Town several years ago," corrected the Rocket. "But that's water under the brigde, so to speak. So, are you joining or what?" Smasher was enraged, but he couldn't tell why. That event was long forgotten by most people, but for some reason, that seemed to be his source of anger. "That Marowak was trying to protect its children," continued Smasher. A vision flashed before his eyes. A Marowak fell, battered and bleeding, at the feet of a Team Rocket Pokémon. He could see it clearly, as if he had been there. "She was trying to protect her children from you, and you killed her. For that, I will punish you." Smasher's eyes glowed a faint alien glow. "So, I take it you're not joining Team Rocket then?" inquired the Rocket. "Shuriken!" commanded Smasher. "Spinning tackle attack!" The skateboarding Staryu leapt into the air and spun as it flew towards the Rocket. But the Rocket was prepared. "Go, Gloom!" commanded the Rocket. "Sleep Powder!" A flash of light, and Gloom materialized from its Pokéball. The Gloom sprayed a sparkling powder at Shuriken. The Staryu quickly fell asleep and landed on the ground. The Rocket kicked Shuriken back over to Smasher. "Your move, skater boy!" Smasher let out a small growl. "Cliff Diver, Dig attack!" commanded Smasher. The Clefairy just gave Smasher a quizzical look. "What? Don't you know dig?" Cliff shook its head. "But what about at Mt. Moon? What was that you did?" Cliff twitched its fingers. "Metronome? OK, do that then!" Cliff Diver stepped between Smasher and Gloom. It swayed its arms back and forth and its rythmic chanting entranced the combatants. Suddenly, Cliff started to glow. Then it exploded, sending the the Rocket and Gloom in one direction and Smasher, Shuriken, and itself in another. Smasher may have won that match, but he couldn't tell. Right now he was soaring very high and away from the battle. Then he and his Pokémon were plummeting. The three of them crash-landed on the deck of a ship heading for Fuschia. Smasher looked up from where he had landed and his skateboard landed on his head. After a few seconds of unconsciousness, Smasher woke up and looked around him. He saw a trainer, two Pikachus, a black Sandshrew and a sea captain. "Arg, ye matey!" said the captain. "Looks like we have ourselves a stowaway!" Smasher lay back down on the deck. He had the feeling that he was in for a long trip.... To be continued....
