"She's... well, she's somewhere," Andy responded. "The little auto-healer
thingy that I don't know what it's called isn't working, and she's checking to
see if it's plugged in. She's been gone for ten minutes, and--"
Nurse Joy's voice came from the back of the Pokémon center, barely audible
because of the distance. "Found it!" A pause. "It should be working now."
Andy walked around the counter and started up the machine. Sure enough, Andy's
Pokémon had been healed within a few seconds.
"When all else fails, try the Universal Electronics Problem," Andy said to
himself. He took his Pokéballs and turned to the other trainer. "So, what's
your name?"
"Cinder," the other trainer responded, putting his own Pokéballs in the
machine.
"Hi, Cinder. I'm Andy, Supertrainer. Faster than a speeding Slowbro, able to
leap Pidgey hatchlings in a single bound..." Both trainers laughed. "I take
it you just got back from battling Brock?"
"Yeah," Cinder said. "A 4-on-4 match. He gave me a Bike Shop gift certificate
because he was out of Bide TMs."
Andy made a mental note not to mention his own Bide TM, realizing Brock had
probably given him the last one. "So where are you headed?" he asked.
