Standard Disclaimor: This story is a pseudo-NC. Meaning that absolutely
nothing in this story will affect anyone except from Steve Fugues in typical
continuity of PW!. This story has Steve traveling to an alternate dimension.
As such, he will be affected. But no one else will because their existence in
this dimension is completely independent of their existence in the rest of PW!
****************
Mewtwo was somewhat of a loner. One who didn't spend all of his time at the
Team Rocket base. Often times, he felt that the only place where he could be
at peace was the unknown dungeon. Or so he thought.
Little did he know that buried deep in his cave was a nuclear device. A
device that was set to explode and atomize him before he had the chance to
react. One that he had no reason to suspect even existed. And most
importantly, one that was about to go off.
BOOM!!!
The Anti-Mewtwo Crew stood by, waiting. Watching from a distance with
binoculars and praying to God that the psychic dampening fields they designed
in advanced would protect them from being detected by the creature.
The nuclear device exploded, causing the cave to collapse upon itself. Smoke
and a shockwaves soon followed. The blast was underground, so the damage was
minimal. Unfortunately for TAC, more minimal than they thought.
"ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!" Mewtwo roared as he suddenly appeared from the rubble,
surrounding himself in a psychic sheild. TAC looked at the Pokemon in horror
as they realized their best attack to stop him failed. How in the world did
Mewtwo know to prepare himself from the blast? More importantly, what chance
would they have of stopping him now? All of them were confused.
"WHAT ARE WE GONNA DO?!?" shouted one of them.
"WE'RE GONNA STOP THAT PIECE OF GENETIC SLUDGE," said another, who went by the
name Tiki.
"GREAT!!!" said a third.
Tiki had one of his recruits use a Pidgeot to fly closer to Mewtwo.
"WHEN YOU GET CLOSE TO THAT SUCKER, USE THIS!" Tiki said as he pulled an
Anti-Psychic Box from his pocket. "IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO NUETRALIZE MEWTWO'S
POWERS!"
The person did as told and flew towards Mewtwo, knowing that he would have
little defense against such a creature. Mewtwo, from the legends, could could
hurricanes with the wave of his hand.
"Let's pick up the pace," he said as his Pidgeot moved faster and faster. At
first, the flyer was shocked that Mewtwo didn't destroy him then and there.
Then he realized that Mewtwo didn't see him as worth y of his attention.
Mewtwo would toy with him first, to prove his superiority. Taking the
opportunity, he turned the box on. At first, Mewtwo cringed at the thought of
losing his powers. Then he realized nothing was happening.
"A toy," Mewtwo said as he snatched the device telekenetically. "One that I
can crush with ease. You dare bring a mere toy to do battle with a *god*? You
can not hope to ever comprehend the power which I weild."
The box shattered, and fragments of it fell down hundreds of feet below.
Mewtwo looked at the group with delight as he thoughts up ways to kill them.
The first thing he did was observe the flyer. Relying on a Pokemon to carry
him where ever he wanted. Mewtwo used his psychic powers to teleport the
Pidgeot he was riding--and only the Pidgeot--far, far away. The trainer, on
the other hand, was left to free fall. Mewtwo grinned with delight as he
observed the stain far below.
"You people were arrogant enough to think you could take on the full power of
Mewtwo himself?" he asked. "Do you want even a *taste* of the kind of power I
command?"
Tiki at this point was terrified. The items which he thought was his greatest
possible weapons against his greatest enemy failed. Completely and utterly
failed. The nuclear weapon alone was surprising. The failure of the
Anti-Psychic Box was utterly mind boggling. Why did it fail? What didn't he
account for? What did he forget?
"A psychic, are you?" said Mewtwo as he faced another member of the group.
"Constantly seeking to expand your mental powers. Allow me to help you with
that.
"AAAAHHHHHHH!!!" the person yelled as he felt his brain expand further and
further--eventually exploding.
"And who shall be next?" Mewtwo asked. "Who is next in line to die?"
One by one, Tiki's friends and team mates fellr. An impaling. A burning. A
quartering. All of them knew the risks of taking on an omnipotent being before
signing up for their missions. None of them really took them into account.
Soon, all that was left was Tiki--or at least what was left of him. He was no
longer the brave soul who he was earlier, willing to take on the world and face
bullets. Now it was a miracle that he didn't wet his pants.
"You are the leader of this group," said Mewtwo, "you are the one who brought
these people to come after me. Who destroyed my home. Yet for a reason I do
not yet understand, I do not wish to give you the same sentence as your
friends. Instead, your punishment is that of life. A life of realizing that
you are the ones who brought your friends to die today. That if it wasn't for
your arrogance, they might still be alive."
"IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN THINK OF, MEWTWO?!?" Tiki yelled.
"No," said Mewtwo, "but if you wish..."
With one wave of the hand, Tiki was transported to a prison cell located near
Rocket Base. But there was more to that then he suspected.
"WHERE AM I!" Tiki yelled.
"In the dream realm," said Mewtwo. "You will be trapped here, unable to wake.
Forced to deal again and again with what you are responsible for."
And so Mewtwo left. And for the Tiki of this particular dimension, the
nightmares were about to begin.
*****************
"What's that guy's name?" Steve asked Giovanni as he visited the cells.
"Tiki," said Giovanni. "A mere mortal foolish enough to think that he would
be able to stand up to the might of Mewtwo."
Steve snickered at the notion. After all, Mewtwo was supposed to be all
powerful. How in the world would a regular person stand up to him?
But when Steve thought about it, Mewtwo asked for his help in bringing down
the Pokemon League. More importantly, seemed to need it. Why? Why would a
seemingly omnipotent being need his help? Steve questioned this concept again
and again in his mind, and found no answers. Did Mewtwo see something in him
that made him desire help? Or maybe it was something that... Mewtwo saw in
himself?
"What's his problem?" Steve asked.
"No one knows," said Giovanni. "Tiki was a boy apparently born with latent,
incredible psychic powers. For some reason or another, he became obsessed with
Mewtwo. It became the one thing that he tried to live for. The one thing to
give him purpose in life. It might be noted that he was orphaned early on.
Perhaps it was a lack of a family that forced him to live out his adventures
through Mewtwo?"
Steve could relate. Not to the same degree, but slightly. He had lost his
memory a long time ago and had no idea of the direction to take in life. But
Karen gave him hope. Karen gave him something worth fighting for. And now she
was gone, and his whole life seemed to turn upside-down.
Yet one thing bothered Steven. Why would Mewtwo put Tiki into a coma? Why
not kill him or at least deactivate his powers? But then, who was he to
question?
"So why did we come here?" Steve asked.
"We have recently apprehendned a spy from the Pokemon League," said Giovanni.
"And?" Steve asked.
"And we thought he might be helpful in figuring out the latest plans of the
League," he said. "We know that they are planning something big. We have no
idea what it is."
"So where is he?" Steve asked.
"Right here," said Giovanni as he finished walking down a dim hallway and
unlocked a stone door. Light crept into a the dark room and a weakened man
crouched in the corner.
For days he had been left here. Little to eat, nothing to do. He tried to be
hopeful, praying that his friends at the League would show up and rescue him.
But they never did. He would have to do as Team Rocket told him to do, or die.
A hard choice. Be a traitor to his cause or a dead man.
"Ready to talk, yet?" Giovanni asked.
"No," the man answered.
"Very well then," Giovanni as he closed the door. Slowly. The man in the
corner starred as the light slowly died out. Soon, he realized, he would stay
where he was. In the darkness.
"Wait..." he said weakly, finally breaking down as Giovanii knew he would. At
this point, he had lost all hope. What did it matter now that he would become
a traitor? He was already less then a man now. His friends had already
betrayed him by not showing up. Steve truly pitied him, but wasn't sure how to
react.
"A sudden burst of desperation?" Giovanni asked. "It's a start. What do you
know."
"Gil Bates... he's working on capturing something big..." he said, "something
so powerful that no one would be able to challenge him..."
"What?" Giovanni asked.
"I'm not sure..." said the man. "Gil doesn't share information when its
unnecessary in case of situations like this..."
Giovanni starred into the man's eyes and knew he wouldn't get anymore more
information from him. Not today anyway. But he had all the information that
he needed for now.
"Thank you," said Giovanni as he unlocked the door and kept it opened,
gesturing to a nearby guard, "you may begin your first steps back to freedom
today."
************
"There are currently five known Pokemon which the League has never been able
to capture," Tom began as he began to lecture for the Pokemon League. "The
first of them is Mewtwo, which they have little to no chance of recruiting.
The leaves 4 suspects: Mew and the three legendaries."
"I have seen a Mew before," said Al. "I mistook it for the Apocalyptic beast
and thought it would be my sixth Pokemon. The last member of my team. But it
damned near killed me. They look innocent, but they pack a punch. There is no
way in hell that they'll obey a trainer. And I should know."
"That leaves the three legendaries," said Tom, "Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Extremely powerful. Extremely. Or at least in terms of raw power. Of
course, they still live within physical limitations. They do not have the
power to, say, distort reality and time like Mew and Mewtwo."
"Meaning they are capturable," Giovanni said.
"Theoretically."
"How theoretic?" Steve asked.
"Apparently theoretic enough for Gil Bates to have expressed interests in
them."
"So how do we prepare to take on living legends?" Al inquired. "Dealing with
them sounds trying to deal with Thor or Hercules."
"Good question," said Tom, "and if I could come the solution for you this
easily, Gil Bates wouldn't have put the time into creating the problem. Any
ideas?"
