From: <pokefreakazoid@my-deja.com> Subject: [PW!] Let the Sparks fly! Date: Friday, November 19, 1999 8:14 PM A bead of sweat formed on his brow. It slowly oozed its way free of it prison inside of his pores, and began its track. It began to drip down his brow, slithering its way diagonally across his sloping forehead. The drop careened to the bulge of his eyebrows, where it flung itself off to its death, crashing into the grassy knoll atop which he was standing. The Sun beat down on the battlefield. The combatants stood about thirty paces away from each other, engaging in a mind game that non one could contemplate. Each of them had a decision to make, which would change the course of the battle for or against them... Keyan gritted his teeth and dug his feet into the soft soil. The air was thick enough to be cut using a butcher knife. Shifting his weight onto his back foot, then with a quick burst of strength thrusting himself forward, his body flew forward as he cried, "Let the Sparks fly!" On cue the Jolteon, which had been standing next to him, in a burst of electricity launched itself into battle. Propelled by the explosion of electricity, it flew threw the air and landed in the center of the make shift arena. "JOLTEON!" it hooted as it used its war cry. Keyan's opponent, a girl about his age, was ready with her first Pokemon as well. "So you think you can beat my bugs? Then think again! Beedril, go!" she retorted as she hurled her own Pokeball onto the field. The Pokeball opened and out shot a burst of red energy that condensed into the shape of bee. Its wings beginning to beat rapidly as it came to life after being stuck in the Pokeball, and it began to head for Sparks. Its trainer a little surprised by her Pokemon's eagerness to battle, was quick to begin the first round. "Beedril, Twineedle attack!" she ordered the Beedril as it aimed and began to track its target. Keyan was quick with his wits and knew how to handle the Beedril this early in the match. Immediately he called to Sparks to check left. Keyan and his Pokemon had a special kind a code, for disguising their actions. It was based on military radio lingo, with a few modifications. Sparks got the message, and jumped to left just as the Beedril was at point blank range, forcing the bug to miss. The Beedril, not to be denied its attack, quickly veered around and came to bear again on the Jolteon. Keyan didn't even have to instruct Sparks what to do now, the enterprising young Jolteon was already out of the way before the Beedril knew he had missed. Now the girl and the Beedril knew that they were in trouble...Sparks was too fast for Beedril to hit. Keyan was well aware of how fast Sparks was, mainly because of their two years of battling together. Now that he had gone on the road to find the world, he was also battling more people, and was getting better. Sparks and he were a great team, and nothing was gonna stop them from finding their place in the world. Now Sparks was on the offensive. With the Beedril baffled, the Jolteon began its attack. As it lunged forward, Keyan selected the attack that would be required for this round. "Agility, full burn!" he said as his arm glided forward almost to show Sparks the way. The electric steak charged towards the bug, rapidly gaining speed....until the bomb was dropped. Keyan knew that his plan would work, the diversion always did, at the top of his lungs, and with a smirk across his face, he screamed "Sparks, Fox-1, Fire at will" The Jolteon knew it was time to close the door on the trap. The Beedril was now surprised into shock, and wasn't about to move. Using this opportunity, Sparks launched its deadly Pin Missile attack right into the eyes of the Beedril. In a burst of energized hairs, the Beedril was blinded, along with being hit by a flurry of other hairs in the facial region. The bug stuttered backwards and tried to pull the hairs that were rammed into its eyes out, but his stingers were just too clumsy to do the job effectively. Sparks knowing the battle was his doubled back, and in back flip landed right in front of Keyan. The battle was theirs...or at least they thought. "Look what you did to my Beedril! I may be a Bug-type Pokemon trainer, but I still keep a backup for dealing with jerks like you that beat up on girls..." she said as she clapped her hands. Rumbling then began to engulf the small knoll where the two were battling, and out of the ground bore a massive prickly ball...and it cried "SLASHHH!" Keyan knowing that he had over stayed their welcome, knew that it was time to get out of their. Before the Sandslash that had emerged from the ground could attack, he grabbed the other Pokeball on his belt. "Looks like it's time for me to disappear in a Flash!" he said as he chucked the Pokeball downwards As the Pokeball opened, as massive dust cyclone swirled up where Keyan and Sparks had been. Then, as the cyclone disappeared, only a business card with the picture of a soaring battle ready Fearow on it was left. The girl gritted her teeth and looked upward to the sky, and screamed towards the heavens, "I know who you are Keyan Pepper! Remember the name Maya Tylon! We will meet again Pepper, and next time your mine!"....no one heard her, as a wind rolled across the plains southwest of Pewter City.
