Subject: [PW!] Belated Christmas Story In Which Andy Gets A Gift
Date: Sunday, December 26, 1999 4:07 AM
WARNING: This story is poorly written, mainly because I can't write Christmas
episodes.
The bus from Indigo Plateau had taken hours to get to Viridian. Andy had
barely made it to the church on time, but at least he had made it. He loved
listening to the choir sing on Christmas morning.
As usual, his father had been one of the most distinguishable voices in the
choir. Scott Renev, an editor for a local newspaper, also happened to have the
best voice in the entire church. Andy, of course, did not share his father's
talent, but then again Andy didn't really have much of an interest in the
choir.
Now that the service was over, Andy was in the living room of his family's
house, participating in the traditional opening of gifts. He watched, and
recognized the gifts he had purchased: a Christmas tree mini-ornament for his
mother, a Wonders of the Universe calendar for his father, and a set of Pokémon
figures for his brother.
Finally, he heard the words he had anxiously awaited: "This one says 'To Andy,
from Mom and Dad.'" Andy accepted the box from his father, then looked at it,
estimating the size to figure out what it was. He checked for a clue; there
was none to be found.
Andy gave up and unwrapped the gift. He opened the box and looked inside, and
found a Pokéball. Andy tossed the unusual form of packaging into the air...
and an Abra appeared. *A psychic Pokémon?* Andy thought. *My Christmas
presents get weirder every year.*
"His name's David," Andy's mother noted. "Usually you get to pick a Pokémon's
nickname when you catch it, but this one chose one himself."
"Hi, David," Andy said to the Abra.
"Abra..." David was asleep. Not surprising, considering that Abras sleep 18
hours a day.
"I'll get acquainted later," Andy said. "Is there anything for Electron?"
There was, as it turned out. "Mag magnemite mag!" Electron said happily as he
unwrapped a decorative piece of sculpted metal, designed to fit over the upper
screw of a Magnemite.
"Anything else? I have to leave soon if I want to make it to the bus terminal
in time."
"Yes, there's a few more," Scott said, rummaging through boxes. "Here's a
couple."
The gifts turned out to be a Pokédex TV tuner upgrade card (very useful between
cities) and a copy of the latest PokéTrek book. In his stocking, Andy found
the usual assortment of candy and Pokémon cards. After saying his good-byes,
Andy left the house, and started down the road to the bus terminal. He'd catch
a bus to Pewter, hike to Mt. Moon, move on to Cerulean, and be on his way to
entering the Pokémon League.

I know, it's lame, but I needed an excuse to add David to my team, plus the bus
terminal thing sets up for the beginning of the BBB. You'll see how.
