Date: Friday, December 03, 1999 2:19 AM <reposted with the LEAGUE Tag> P:OTP: The MMC & co. flew on Sarah Jane's grandparents' Pidgeots to Indigo Plateau for the Pokemon League games… And now, the PokeWars!… Jon finally reached the desk along with his friends. A very beautiful attendant smiled at him. "Good afternoon! I can see you're here to compete. Please insert your Pokedex here!" Jon stepped up to a machine and inserted his Pokedex. The screen on the computer-like machine suddenly came to life. "Trainer Jonathan Robert Ference. Hometown Cinnabar Island. Identification Number 58981. Press Yes to verify info." Jon blushed, and pressed Yes. "Searching. Opponent found. Grass Field. Match 2. Versus Trainer Joseph." Jon nodded. The screen changed to a real time report of matches. As he returned to his friends, the loudspeaker blared. "NOW STARTING. Match one on the Grass Field." Jon realized he had better get going. He called over his shoulder as he ran. "Guys, I gotta go! See ya at the housing!" He took off at a jog towards the Grass Field. There wouldn't be any time to train, much less prepare. Jon, however, was nonetheless bubbling with excitement. The League games…well… Jon arrived at the Stadium marked "Grass Field" in a short amount of time. An Officer Jenny standing outside noticed him and directed him straight to a door marked "Green Trainer Entrance." The door opened to reveal a small locker room. Jon sat on the bench straightaway. He checked his side. Good, six Pokeballs all healed. The tension built. He pulled out his Pokedex. "In the first rounds of the Pokemon League, trainers may use three Pokemon… once a Pokemon is in the ring, it may not be reused…" Jon let the Pokedex drone on. His six Pokemon were all in Pokeballs. Ninetales, Shellder, Jolteon, Vulpix, Bulbasaur, and Dragonite. He quickly pushed buttons and transferred out Vulpix for Kadabra. "Psychic is important…" Jon was awakened from his dream by the sudden cut in of the loudspeaker. "Green trainer Battle two. Please report to the stadium entrance." Jon stood up and pushed open the door to the tunnel, extremely on edge. He walked to the end of the short tunnel, being greeted by another Jenny at the end. "Welcome… the first match is just finishing…" Jon turned his attention to the match at centerfield. The Red trainer had one Pokemon left, to Green's two. Red's Electabuzz was facing a Graveler. "Graveler! NOW! Rock throw!" The Graveler threw its body on the Electabuzz, which couldn't stop it with any electric attacks. The Electabuzz fell. An official ran onto the field and threw a flag in the air. "Electabuzz has fainted! Match, Green!" The large scoreboard changed messages to reflect this. As he galavanted off the field, Jon slowly stepped onto the field. He looked across the large field to see a boy who could have been his twin, except with brown hair. Jon gritted his teeth as the platform rose. "Now, on the Grass field, Green Trainer Jon from Cinnabar Island will face Red Trainer Joseph from the town of Celadon. Trainers, ready?!" Both nodded. "Let the match begin!" The announcer's voice echoed as Jon looked at his Pokeballs. Who to choose first? Jon picked Pokeball number 6. "GO! DRAGONITE!" The Red trainer threw a Pokemon at the same time. "I choose you! DEWGONG!" The large dragon Pokemon settled on midfield, facing the sea lion. Jon facefaulted, realizing the ice Pokemon would have advantage. Jon acted quick to make the first move. "Dragonite, agility NOW!" The dragon Pokemon suddenly began to speed around the Dewgong, making it unsure of its aim. The Red trainer decided to move. "Dewgong, headbutt!" Jon bit his tongue. "Dragonite, use your speed! Slam!" The Dragonite moved fast enough to knock the sea lion off balance, but not enough to take it out. The Dewgong used its head to take Dragonite's air away. Joseph was waiting for this. "Dewgong, surf!" Jon looked in amazement. Perhaps he had caught a Pokemon without an ice move… Jon watched as Dragonite was pummeled by water. It didn't seem to care much. "Dragonite, Hyperbeam now!" Jon called, growing smug. "Dewgong! Take it out! AURORA BEAM!" Jon fell over. He had simply saved the ice move. The Pokemon launched beams at the same time, causing them to contact exactly half way. Both concentrated, attempting to make the other's give way. Jon bit his lip harder. "Do it, Dragonite!" Suddenly, the Aurora beam gave in, and the more powerful hyper beam came crashing down on Dewgong. It fell right over. The official ran out. "Dewgong is out! Green Trainer wins!" Joseph recalled his Dewgong, and grabbed another Pokeball. "Do it! Victreebel!" Jon shook his head. Dragonite was tuckered out after that powerful beam. It couldn't take this Pokemon. "Dragonite, return! Go, Ninetales!" Jon yelled. The announcer's voice boomed. "Jon has recalled his Dragonite! One out apiece!" "Victreebel! Quickly, now! Razor Leaf!" Jon ordered his fox Pokemon. "Ninetales, flamethrower! Bust up those leaves!" Jon's Ninetales got moving fast enough to burn the leaves out of the air, but not enough to hurt the Victreebel. Joseph saw this. "Victreebel, continue!" Jon gritted his teeth again. "Ninetales, stop those leaves!" The pattern of leaf, fire, leaf fire, continued. Soon enough, Ninetales was rather tired out. "Victreebel! Now, body slam!" Jon recalled Ninetales before Victreebel could hit it. This was a tough Pokemon. "Jolteon, go!" Jon yelled, using his last Pokemon. "Thunder attack!" The fast electric Pokemon took off immediately, letting loose a powerful electric attack. Victreebel, already having used some energy on Ninetales, wasn't able to defend enough. It fell to the ground. "In a stunning reversal, Jon has retied the match…" the announcer yelled Joseph now laughed. "I'll take you down the right way, Jon. Electric battle! Go, Electrode!" Joseph sent forth a Pokeball-resembling Pokemon. Jon, realizing it was fast, hoped Jolteon could take it out. "Jolteon! Now, Body slam!" "Electrode, Explosion! NOW!" The two electric Pokemon went right to their attacks. Electrode began to glow, and finally totally exploded as Jolteon neared it, blowing the smaller Pokemon to the ground. When the smoke cleared, both Pokemon had fainted. The official ran in and examined the Pokemon. He then ran off the field and picked up a phone. The announcer cut in. "This is rare! Both Pokemon fainted at the SAME time to end the match! What will the rules say?!" The crowd hushed, as both trainers lept off the platforms and ran to their Pokemon. Suddenly, the official returned to midfield. "The rules state that the Pokemon that faints first is the loser. By nature of Electrode's attack, it must explode and faint itself first before it can faint the other Pokemon. By this definition, Jolteon wins! Green trainer, match!" Jon went nuts, calling all his Pokemon and hugging them. This had been a hard earned victory… TBC. Jon, 2. Joseph, 1 -------- Sig v.1.7A Deathclock says I die June 23, 2059.
