Mike vs. Calvin Date: Monday, December 20, 1999 4:04 PM Last time, much to everyone's surprise, Lewis lost on the water field to Jon Ference. Now, we'll see if Mike can avenge Lewis' defeat on the ice field! "Haunter go!" Mike shouts. "Poliwrath go!" Calvin shouts. "The green trainer, Mike, has chosen Haunter, while Calvin has chosen Poliwrath. An interesting beginning to our first round!" the announcer says. "Poliwrath! Bubblebeam attack!" Calvin shouts. Poliwrath sprays out a beam of water, and Haunter suddenly dissipates! "Haunter has disappeared! Where could he be?" the announcer asks. Haunter reappears behind Poliwrath, and Haunter licks Poliwrath, paralyzing him. "Poliwrath is unable to battle, Haunter is victorious!" the flag guy says. "Poliwrath, return. Dewgong go!" Calvin shouts. "Even though we're here on the ice field folks, this battle's now really heating up!" the announcer says. Dewgong immediately jumps up to hit Haunter with a slam, who licks Dewgong, paralyzing it for a second, but Dewgong gets off an ice beam first, freezing Haunter before fainting. "Both Pokemon are unable to battle. Send out your last Pokemon!" the flag guy says. "Dragonair go!" Mike shouts. "Charizard go!" Calvin shouts. Charizard and Dragonair face off at each other. "Charizard, fire blast!" Calvin orders. Charizard fires the blast, immediately sending Dragonair into a wall, creating quite a bit of smoke. All of a sudden, a glow comes from the smoke! DragonITE flies out of the smoke! "The intensity of the battle has caused Dragonair to evolve into Dragonite! The most powerful dragon Pokemon on earth!" the announcer shouts. Dragonite flies up, and fires a hyper beam at Charizard, sending him into a wall as well. The smoke clears, and Charizard is dazed and lying down. "Charizard is unable to battle, the battle and the match goes to green trainer Mike Threener!" the flag guy shouts. "Good work! Dragonite retu-" Dragonite hyper beams Mike. "Return..." Mike says, dazed and burned. The red beam comes out of the pokeball and recalls Dragonite. "I have a feeling that Dragonite is going to end up like Ash Ketchum's Charizard." Meeko says.
