P,OTPW!: Jon was battling a sailor. He was about to call his second Pokemon...
AND NOW...
----------
Pokemon Wars! League! Jon vs. Christopher! Round Four!
Indigo Plateau!
----------
Jon was half-cocked throwing his Pokeball when the loudspeaker startled him.
"ROUND 4 TRAINERS TO THEIR FIELDS!"
Jon stopped his throwing motion and pulled open his Pokedex.
"Trainer Jon. Round 4. Rock Field."
Remembering he couldn't be late, Jon waved a hasty goodbye to his one-time
opponent. Pulling a Usagi, he was at the trainer's entrance in minutes. The
previous battle was just beginning, so for the first time in the games he had
an opportunity to consider his Pokemon.
"Jolteon. Onix, and Dugtrio. Butterfree. Ninetales, and Vulpix. 6."
He was looking aimlessly at his Onix's Pokeball when something clicked inside
him. He released his Butterfree and administered a Super Potion to it, to wash
away the effects of the previous battle. Jon took the time to pat Butterfree
on the head and reward it for its good work earlier.

Cinnabar Pokemon Lab
Along with an Arcanine and some lab staff, a Dragonite, an Alakazam, and a
Pidgeot were camped in front of the TV. It was, of course, tuned to the League
games.
---
A league secretary popped her head in.
"Jon? Ready to go?"
Jon nodded. Walking out into the rock stadium, he realized this was perhaps
the most important battle of his life. He'd need to win here to have a shot at
a win.
The full force of the bright Indigo noon hit Jon hard. From the first row on
the left could be heard, "LADDIE! Ahoy! WIN IT!"
Jon smiled as he recognized the sailor from earlier.
---
Christopher sighed as he entered the arena. Livin la Vida NPC was hard. He'd
lost 3 battles, and hadn't even received credit as a trainer in any of them,
losing to Lorelei, Lance, and Atoshi. He was going to give this prettyboy
trainer Jon a match to remember. Stepping up to the Red trainer's box,
Christopher resolved Jon wasn't going anywhere without a tough battle...
---
Jon stepped onto the Green trainer's box. He released Vulpix onto the
trainer's box, and grabbed a Pokeball. He whipped it into the rocky surface.
---
Christopher looked at his Pokeballs. The writer was going to have to be
creative here.
"Go! Graveler!"
---
Jon's Pokeball choice revealed his Dugtrio.
---
The announcer, this time, was not as happy go lucky. It seemed the PL had
hired Ben Stein.
"Green trainer calls Dugtriio. Red trainer calls Graveler. Go."
The official dropped his flags. Jon was eager to take this match home.
"Dugtrio! Go..err... use your...Dig attack!"
"Graveler! Rock throw!"
Jon's Dugtrio digs quickly into the rock surface, while the Graveler launched
itself at the Dugtrio's last known position. Upon not hitting a target, it
became confused and as such an easy target for the Dugtrio upon its reentrance
to the field. However, the Graveler's rock hard defense prevented Jon from a
major point score.
"Grr... Graveler, Rock slide!"
"Dugtrio! Use your...Earthquake!"
The Graveler lept backwards in preparation for its attack. It threw itself
towards the Dugtrio, and might have ko'd it hadn't the Dugtrio begun to jostle
the ground. The Graveler was thrown off from its attack.
Christopher began to steam. He should be winning, not losing.
"RETURN, Graveler! Here we go!"
Jon smiled. He was getting to his opponent. However, Christopher stopped
before returning his Graveler. Instead, he ordered another Rock Slide.
"Rock slide, Graveler!"
Jon was taken completely by surprise with this move. It was too late to order
Dugtrio out of the way, but somehow the ground Pokemon knew to evade the
attack. Jon smiled as it came up, knocking the Rock Pokemon off its feet.
The flags person signalled a Green Win.
Christopher sighed and recalled Graveler for real. Jon did likewise with
Dugtrio, sending instead Vulpix.
"This is your turn, little buddy! Use the rocks to your advantage!"
Christopher saw this chance and took advantage.
"Go, Gyarados! Bite that fluff ball into submission!"
Jon was taken aback by this aggressive move. "Vulpix, confuse ray!"
The atrocious Pokemon was upon the smaller one as it launched its confuse ray.
Vulpix was able to escape with little damage, and its confuse ray hit the mark.
The confused Gyarados began to go nuts, writhing all over the field. Jon was
forced to recall his Pokemon for fear of losing it.
"Christopher leads 2 to 1. Wow."
Jon looked at his choices again. In one moment, he made his choice.
"You gotta do it! Onix!"
Jon hoped the rock snake would profit as a choice. As the referee waited for
the Gyarados to stop its confusion, Jon's Onix reared back and waited. The
referee, after two minutes of seeing nothing but a writhing Gyarados, dropped
his flag signalling the match was tied. Christopher again was forced to recall
his Pokemon.
"Go! Hypno!"
Jon's Onix easily dwarfed the psi Pokemon, which looked at Onix menacingly.
Jon ordered a Screech, which Onix fulfilled by letting out a high-pitched
whistle that made the crowd cover their ears.
"Hypno! Psychic!"
The psi launched a powerful attack that sent the rock snake reeling. Jon knew
his Pokemon was nearly out.
"Finish that thing, Onix! Bind!"
The snake wrapped Hypno tightly. When it was done, the Hypno fell to the
ground... fainted. The referee dropped the flag, signalling Onix had won.
"Jon wins. Wow."
Christopher couldn't believe it. He fell to his knees and screamed. In a
rage, he threw his Graveler's Pokeball as close to Jon's trainer stand as
possible.
"EXPLOSION!" he yelled. Jon recalled his Onix and dove off the platform as the
Graveler appeared, glowing. The blast blew the trainer's platform off its
stanchions, and sent rocks flying into the first row of the audience. Fully
expecting to be physically attacked, Jon stood up as soon as possible to look
for Christopher. In the dust, Jon could see several Pokemon league officials
running. When it cleared, Jon could see to the other side of the field.
Christopher was being restrained... by the sailor! He let out a hearty laugh,
as Jon did, when the League officials arrived.

Cinnabar Pokemon Lab
The lab techs are chest-bumping, while Jon's Pokemon are dancing. They know
Kudos will go to their lab for raising Onix and Diglett so well.
---
League Office: Later:
"Trainer Christopher. You're receiving a warning for this. You'll be allowed
to receive your awards as a competitor, and you may keep your license this
time. But next time... it's the trash can." Lance motioned to his neck as he
dismissed the young trainer.
---
Jon sat in a cafe outside of Indigo stadium, awaiting the results on who would
make it to the finals. His 7 points would definitely put him in the running...
but it might not be enough.
TBC? Oh yeah!
