His hair IS on fire! Tired, frustrated, and in a bit of a panic, his control slipped for just a second... Ema and Smasher took three slow, deliberate steps back. Cliff Diver and Shiruken knew instinctively what they were seeing, and wondered why the humans were afraid. Aerie, of course, already knew. Seth turned to look at them, blinking innocently. "What?" "D...did you know you just turned into a magmar?" Seth brought his arm up to his cone of sight. Sure enough, his arm was shorter, clawed, and covered in flames. "Umm...well, that is...it's an illusion. Yeah, that's right!" Smasher cocked his head. "An illusion?" "Yeah. I can pull off imitations of pokemon. Here, watch this." In the space of a minute, Seth was a goldeen, an eevee, a machoke, and finally himself again, the fire having dissapeared with the magmar form. "Neat, huh?" Cliff Diver and Shiruken looked at each other, and were about to protest the lie when they both felt a hostile gaze. Turning to look at its source, they saw Aerie shooting an intense warning gaze at them, coupled with a tightly focussed psybeam low power enough not to hurt. #Don't. EVEN. Think about telling them.# They sweatdropped in unison, and nodded just a bit to confirm their assent. Eva applauded politely. "You should be a magician." Seth smiled. "Thank you. But, well..." "He performs only for me." Aerie placed her arm around him posessively. "He doesn't want to perform for audiences, do you, Seth?" "Uh-uh. I get stage fright, even if it's just for two or three people. Umm, so could you do me a favor and, uhh, not tell anyone? Please? The last thing I want is to be bombarded by performance requests." "PIX!" Ema was the first to see. "She's heading for the outer door! Stop her!" "Too late." Dryad wrote: > "You too!" He turned back and started ringing his bell softly > and rapidly again. Derrick looked down to see a cute little vulpix sitting at his feet, staring at him as if begging for food or attention. He slowly knelt towards the pokemon, extending his free hand in friendship. "PIX!" The vulpix leapt back, letting out a few motes of flame in suprise, and bolted away. Shortly afterward, a group of people and pokemon ran by, quite evidently in pursuit of the vulpix. Derrick managed to avoid physical injury, but he felt a slight flicker of heat near his hand. It took him .65 seconds to figure out that the tip of one corner of his card was on fire. TBC? [Hope you don't mind, Dryad, but the opportunity for dramatic irony was just too great. ^_^]
