From: Ali Oceanmist <alioceanmist@aol.com> Subject: [PW!] Rock Hard Battle Date: Monday, December 06, 1999 7:38 PM Ali stood in the Pewter Gym, facing her opponent, Pidgeotto perched atop her shoulder and Seel at her side. Out on the rocky battlefield was Brock's Geodude, ready for battle. Brock was the gym leader there, and he was a slightly good trainer, although he could at least try to raise his Geodude into a Graveler. "Well, are you just going to sit there and stare, or are you going to send out your first Pokémon?" Brock asked, impatience in his voice. Ali finally regained her sense, then shot a glare at the rock/ground-type trainer. "Let's get this show on the road! Pidgeotto!! Go!!" She yelled as the bird flew at a great speed off of her shoulder and hovered just above the arena. Brock grinned, then pointed at Pidgeotto. "Geodude, Tackle attack!!" He commanded. The rock hard Pokémon flew at Pidgeotto, hitting it pretty hard, causing it to fly back a little. Ali winced, almost as if she felt Pidgeotto's pain, then looked back up at him. "Pidgeotto!! Quick Attack!!" Pidgeotto flew down toward the Geodude at a breath-taking speed, diving down and hitting it hard with its beak. Geodude fell to the ground, still in, but weakened quick badly. Brock gave an angry look to his opponent, then yelled over at Geodude. "Use Tackle again, Geodude!!" Once more the rock/ground-type flew over to the flying/normal-type, this time hitting it quite hard. It was a critical hit! Pidgeotto flew back, falling to the arena floor, almost atop a large boulder. The bird sat there, wincing for a while, then slowly opened his eyes. Ali smiled, then she encouraged it to get up and fight again. So, Pidgeotto was soon up again, weak, but ready to kick some rock hard booty! Ali grinned at Brock, who was of course quite surprised to see that Pidgeotto had stayed up even after a hit with such impact. "Pidgeotto, use Gust attack!!" Pidgeotto flew high above the arena, then flapped its wings at high speed, a small tornado soon forming on the arena floor. It flew at Geodude, who tried to evade the attack, but he didn't succeed. Soon Geodude found itself also on the arena floor, knocked out cold after being thrown into a boulder by the Gust attack. Pidgeotto laughed a little, smiling. Brock's face then turned to an extremely angry one. "THAT'S NOT FAIR!!" He yelled. "I won that battle fair and square, now stop being a cry baby and send out your last Pokémon!" Ali laughed a little as she said those words. "THAT'S MY LINE!!" Brock yelled, face turning red with anger. He growled a bit, then threw his last PokéBall into the arena. "ONIX, I CHOOSE YOU!!" When the PokéBall landed, there was a slight rumble. Soon, there was a huge monster that appeared from it in a flash of red light, looking Pidgeotto straight in the eye. Onix glared at its opponent, then roared at it. "GROOON!!" It screeched, Pidgeotto covering its face with one wing, using the other one to stay in the air as best as it could. "Okay, Onix!! Use your Rock Throw, now!!" Brock laugh manically after he said his words, pointing to the bird that flew directly above his Pokémon. Onix turned to Brock for a moment, then turned back to Pidgeotto, leaning back, then bringing its head forward at Pidgeotto, sending the bird down with one simple blow with its head. "Pidgeoooo!!" The bird screeched as it fell faster and faster to the rocky floor. After a mere few seconds of falling, it finally hit the ground with a loud "THUD!" "PIDGEOTTO!!" Ali winced once more, then pulled a PokéBall from her belt, returning the bird Pokémon quickly as Brock pointed and laughed like he was literally mad. "Would you stop that already!?" She yelled sternly at her opponent as her Seel leaped on to the arena floor. "Okay, Seel, do your stuff! Use your Headbutt attack, now!" Seel turned his head and nodded to her, then leaned back, then jumped at the Onix, hitting it hard in the side with its horn, causing a few cracks to form on the side of it. Onix roared with pain, then lifted its tail, without even being commanded, and slammed it down on Seel. It has used its Rock Throw attack. Just when Ali had lost hope of winning the battle, since Seel was sitting there beneath Onix's heavy tail, Seel opened both of its eyes, each filled with rage. Seel somehow managed to pop out from underneath Onix, its horn glowing a brilliant rainbow color. Onix stared wide-eyed at Seel, as well as Brock, and even Ali. What was the Seel doing? They were about to find out. "SEEEL!!" The water-type Pokémon cried, a rainbow-colored beam being emitted from its horn, directed toward the Onix. Seel had used its Aurora Beam attack! It must've learned it earlier from a few battles they had back when they were at the docks, waiting for their boat to arrive so they could be taken to Pallet Town! As the beam flew at the Onix, the huge rock snake Pokémon roared with terror, obviously knowing that this wasn't going to be very pretty when it was all said and done, and of course, it wasn't. Soon after the beam finally hit Onix, it fell to the arena floor, the ice that caked it shattered, shards flying everywhere. The battle was over! Ali, Pidgeotto, and of course, Seel, were the winners! As Ali walked along the path to Mt. Moon, Pidgeotto atop her shoulder and Agiotoee tagging along at her side, the only thing she could to was stare at the Boulder Badge she had held between her middle and index fingers. She held it out, then sunlight adding a nice shine to it. She then closed her eyes and cupped her hand over the badge, bringing her hand to her heart and saying to herself, "Thank you, Seel. You are truly a wonderful Pokémon." Author's Note: Yeah, yeah, I know. In Red/Blue Seel doesn't learm Aurora Beam until after it evolves, but I wanted to make the story more interesting ^-^;.
