From: Miki no Miko <me@att.worldnet.net> Subject: [PW!] Traveling's a real bitch Date: Monday, December 27, 1999 7:29 PM "Let's see.." Mari pulled a map out of Ponyta's saddlebag. "Rosetta town.. Rosetta.. Here we go! We've got another few miles of travel, and thankfully it's only that." The two girls had been traveling all day, having gotten off the ferry at Pallet around 6 AM. Now, the sun was just beginning to set. Mari jumped up on Ponyta's back and held her hand out to Kat. "C'mon, we can ride the rest of the way." "Um.." Kat looked at Mari, mounted on the Pokemon. "I don't know how to ride.." "Don't worry about it. Come on!" Reluctantly, Kat took her friend's hand and climbed up in back of her, clinging to Mari's waist tightly. "Okay.. Here we go! YAH!" Mari yelled enthuastically, kicking Ponyta on the sides gently. He got the message and took off at a canter, moving easily despite his passengers. The sun had nearly set by the time they arrived at their destination. Kat jumped down from Ponyta's back, greatful to finally be on solid ground again. She walked up to the nearest person. "Hello.. Would you know where Mr. and Mrs. Eckert live?" "Yes, yes. Down that street there, take a left at the red mailbox, and then a right at the library. You can't miss it. But they're not home. They went to Indigo to see their granddaughter in the Pokemon League. They must be so proud of her! I know I would be, but my grandchildren are all idiots and misfits. Heavens, this one named Billy Joe, he's such a-" Kat cut the woman off. "Well, thank you for the information, ma'am. Have a good evening!" She walked back over to Mari. "Eh, we may as well head to Indigo. Chances are we'll get there before the League games end anyhow." Mari chuckled. "Somehow, I don't think I'm welcome at the League.. Not after I knocked out Gary Oak during the competition a few years back." She grinned. "Little stuck-up bastard deserved it, too.." Taking a look up at the sun, she said "I don't think we can travel any further tonight. Let's go out into the woods and set up camp.. It looks like it's gonna rain, too.." At that moment, it began to pour buckets of rain. "Dammit!" She leaped off of Ponyta, grabbed a folded tent from the back of his saddle, and pulled him into a Pokeball quickly. "C'mon!" She yelled to Kat, having to yell to be heard over the rain. "Let's go, the trees should give us a little shelter until I can get this tent up!" Later: Kat shivered. "Gods, it's cold." She leaned against Mari, getting as close as she possibly could. Their tiny, poorly assembled tent was holding up under the rain, but it didn't help the temperature much, or the fact that they were soaking wet. Mari removed her jacket and draped it around Kat's shoulders, and then wrapped her arms around her friend. "Yeah, it -is- cold," she said in agreement, although she suddenly felt very, very warm. "Kat?" She asked, and got no response. Kat was sound asleep. "Huh," Mari thought. "She must have been tired after all the traveling." The next morning: (OOC: Hell yes I like doing cheapo timelapses. What, you want a lemon? HENTAI!! =P) "Mmm.. Spec.." Kat murmured sleepily, before noticing that the chest her head was resting on wasn't that of a man. "Gyah!" She cried, sitting straight up. 'What in the hell,' she thought. "Huh?" Mari said, sitting up and yawning. She looked outside. "Hey, sun! We can travel today!" She grinned. "Maybe we can make it to Viridian today, and then to Indigo the next. Eh?" Kat rubbed her eyes and yawned. "Huh? Oh, yeah.." She sighed. 'Where could Spec possibly be.. I hope he's okay', she thought. "Hey!" Mari called to her. "You'd better come out here before I fold the tent up with you in it!" She grinned. Later, on the road: "Kat, what's with you?" Mari asked. "Nothin'.. I'm just looking for a phone," Kat replied. "I need to call Officer Jenny, back in Cinnibar.. I need her to leave a note for someone." She spotted a pay phone on the side of the road. "Be right back, okay?" She said, and ran off. Quickly, she dialed the number for Jenny. "Hi, Officer. It's Kat Richardson, you know me, right?" "Yes, I do. What can I help you with?" "Well, I'd appreciate it if you'd stick a note on the door of my house. Here's what it should say: Attention, Spectre Hikage. If you're looking for me, I'm in Indigo at the Pokemon League games. Love ya, Kat. PS, Yes it's really me, I'll explain everything when I see you." "Will do. Bye, Ms. Richardson." Kat hung up the phone and ran back to Mari. "Okay, let's go!"
